Anyone think the FF2 will be better Spiderman 3?

Worldwide, but not domestically.

Still, it did. Those international bucks count. Why SM3 is now the highest grossing Spider-Man movie.

FF2 has a chance to beat X2. Not sure it will, but it can.

Due to the heightened expectations for Spidey 3 and the lowered expectations for FF2, I believe that FF2 will be perceived as being less "disappointing" by both fans and critics. As for whether it's "better" or not...who knows.

Who cares about critics? Critics certainly have a pattern of crushing a third film simply because they don't like the concept of sequels. So unless that film is exceptionally good they're going to give bad reviews. And further, some of the critiques were just silly. For example on Ebert & Roeper- Roeper is criticizing Sandman as a CONCEPT- querying about what he could do to be dangerous- MEANWHILE the clip is running against Roeper's voice over showing Sandman literally wiping the streets with the police. So the answer is right there. He was just being a jerk. Similar to Ebert saying the FF characters were like other heroes. Not a valid crticism.

Of course some people are going to hate every movie you can think of. There were at the same time poeple who didn't like Spidey 1 & 2 that loved 3.

I agree with half of your statement. FF1 did absolutely SUCK. Spidey 3 was clunky. MaryJane and the whole relationship between her and Peter needs to be irradicated from the franchise. It's a very ugly, ugly thing. But that doesn't change the fact that Spidey 3 was highly entertaining. Far more thought and creativity was put into Spidey 3 than FF1 and for that matter anything I'm seeing from FF2. The movie just looks very pedestrian, and let's not forget that FF1 had a very bad script to boot and 2 is showing signs of the same scripting problems.

Right. Mostly because these studios don't make these films like any other- meaning put together a great script, hire a diorector who has an actual vision and isn't a figurehead based on their track record.

Dude, you're the only one bringing up favoring one franchise over an another. I haven't read a post here that says that Spider-Man is just a better franchise. It isn't inherently better. Just more effort is placed in the Spidey films than has been shown with the FF. What do you expect with the same people makng the films?

I'm about as harsh a critic as there is, and I can easily list every bad thing in Spidey 3. But the truth of the matter is that desptie all its problems, it still stands head and shoulders over the work being produced by Tim Story and his crew. Just the way the actors play out their scenes suggests they just don't believe in what's happening in the story. The cast of Spider-Man clearly do, sometimes too much- even if the script and lines are kinda goofy at times.

Amen.

P.S.; I'll say it: Spider-Man is just a better franchise, imo.

I agree...and its also now the biggest comic book franchise and I think he's elevated to the number 1 superhero icon.....taking over superman and batman (combined)

It does count.

Can't really see how.

The first movie already outgrossed the first X-Men, so the groundwork is there. All it depends on is how the audience takes it.

It is there. But unless FF2 really cranks up the notch like X2 did in terms of an overall movie, I only see a big opening, but horrible legs.

We'll just have to wait come next weekend.

I think it will have weaker legs, but a bigger opening.

I think it really depends on the opening (the quality jump doesn't seem to be there, so this movie will need a big weekend to beat it).

It definitely will have a bigger opening. No question about it. But yeah, it'll all depend on how the audience will react to it, if good word-of-mouth spreads.

If this has the drop FF1 did in weekend 2, it won't. WOM after weekend #1 will be key, unless it gets a ridiculous opening, which I don't see happening.

I will be curious to see how much better reviewed it gets. Though reviews didn't hurt DMC.

I just read a review of the film and it is going to make FF fans scream. The first one sucked and there is NO way this will be better than Spiderman 3, even though 3 was not great.

And if anyone thinks FF2 will outgross the 880 million dollars worldwide that Spiderman 3 has...well you're smoking crack.

No, they are doing something far more instense than even crack.

As someone who recognized the flaws in Spider-man 3 but still like the movie, I seriously doubt FF2 would be able to be better than SM3, even though it is almost a foregone conclusion that FF2 will be better than its predecessor. FF1 was a very average film that was directed by a mediocre filmmaker and has a spotty script, and rather unfaithful to the comic that inspired it. FF2 will try to undo many of the mistakes in FF1, but whether it will succeed or not remains to be seen.

With its lowered expectation, some people might found themselves liking FF2, and I hope I will be one of them. But to say that FF2 will be better than SM3 is just not possible at this moment.

Spiderman 3 was pretty neat, wouldn't mind if FF2 was similar, not sure if it would be better but you never know.

Freddy Got Fingered is better than Spidey 3,so the bar isn't that high.

It won't garner the B.O. $$$$'s that SM3 has, but in terms of quality of storytelling I would say there is high likelihood this movie will outperform Spidey.

Fantastic Four will not be better than Spider-man nor would it reach Spidey's box office.

Totally agree Spidey will concur the world!!!!..HAhhaHHHAHAHHA...

k maybe not.....:whatever:

i dont see ff2 being a better movie...maybe just as good at best!
