I did expect them to modernize it a bit seeing as how it isn't the 60's anymore, but I assume that he creates it with old materials he has on hand and solely without his advanced tech, so it makes sense.

they could have easily changed the armor to be from a broken down humvee and have the armor be yellowish similar to a pre painted tumbler

there also seems to be alot of light greenish weapons material in the cave photos too so it could have been green too
