Transformers Article about the movie on Fwooshnet.com

I think CFlash wrote that :)

No, Creature SH I think wrote it. And it was very well thought out. If I wrote it would not have been so restrained, trust me. I would have spent more time on Michael Bay's defficiencies as a filmmaker... the worst kind of filmmaker in my book.

Anyway, my fave part is this.... he's right on the money. To me this is this movie's biggest travesty. No "updated" movie adaption has so completely ignored the point of the source the way this movie has. Not X-Men, not Spidey, not Fantastic Four.... not even Daredevil.

Once again paralleling human states of affairs, most of the Transformers warfare on Earth targeted the planet's natural resources. While the Autobots attempted to gather the energy - or energon - they needed through diplomacy and other non-invasive methods, the darker side of this coin took what they needed by brute force and occasional trickery. Megatron and his followers were typically seen walking right through hopelessly outmatched human opposition to get their metallic hands on various energy sources. In fact, the very first battle shown to take place on Earth was about an oil platform! How relevant and thought-provoking could this angle have been in a cleverly-written movie today, when energy more than ever before drives world politics?

I still think, as for an origin movie, Transformers will do a good job.

Besides, Daredevil, Hulk, X-Men, they could've done better jobs with their origin movies.

Umm... Catwoman, anyone?

Hellblazer -> Constantine

Yeah. Unfortunately, the script for Transformers was written by the same guy. And, although it's been updated since then by other writers, it still carries his name. The story is still his.

Constantine, I enjoyed it, and I may be the only one who thinks it, but I think Keanu Reeves is a good actor...Speed, Matrix (the first one) were great movies.

And, yah, for the Catwoman post...Catwoman is like one of those movies that we never speak of, it's so terrible, lol.

But I wouldn't mind watching it just to see Halle Berry in that costume.

I, plus others, will be ecstatic when you come on the boards after seeing Transformers and you'll say, "I loved that movie!!!"

i read the article with an open mind and i agree with a lot of the points but i still have no hard feelings towards the people in charge of this film. they saw what too much plot, drama, talking can do to a potentially great summer movie (Superman Returns)...hell, same thing happened to Spider-Man 3 and Pirates 3. so they're taking the safe route and making sure the first movie is a financial success by catering to the general audience's ADD so that, HOPEFULLY, they'll be able to make sequels with deeper and richer stories and characters.

Keanu! man, that guy has a knack for picking great roles. No, he is not a good actor-- in fact, he's horrible-- but I can't picture anybody else playing Neo. Nobody. He nailed that character. I look at him as my generation's Kevin Costner.

Aww, sh** man you're right. I forgot about that. Okay, I'm comign over to your side now, 100%. F**k this movie. It will completely suck.

Just kidding. :D I hope. I'll still reserve judgment until I see it, but yeah... that does have me worried. I wonder if Optimus Prime is one of nine Optimusmen whom, throughout history, have been given supernatural powers from an ancient Egyptian truck god.

The original script was full of jargon like that.
Optimus Prime speaking:
(Jazz) our weapons specialist, forged in the Tri-Penisular Torus states of Praxis. Our medical officer, chief emissary to the High Council of Ancients: Ratchet. (Megatron) once we were brothers-- united. Twin sons among the Dynasty of Primes.

I half expected the next line to be "and this is Lwaxana Troi, daughter of the 5th house of Betazed, holder of the Sacred Chalic of Rixx, and heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed."

We know the average Micheal Bay fan couldn't write something that insightful. :wow:

"Hey look at dem pretty colors and teh cool slo-mo. Dem go-bots blowed up real good. git r done Bay!!!" :whatever:

Superb article Creature. Very much hitting home and utterly depressing at the same time.

I agree with the entire article. 100% on the nose.

I will still enjoy Bayformers though.

why? it's not as if this movie is the only chance the world will ever get at making a live action TF movie. *knocks on wood*

don't speak of such things before opening weekend! :cmad:

i knocked on wood didn't i? wait...this is TF's....maybe i should knock on metal...

And Micheal Bay wasted it.
i wouldn't say he WASTED it...i just think he didn't take advantage of it. it's still Transformers, it's just not as Transformers as it could've been. if this movie makes enough money there will be more chances to get Transformers "right".

i don't think Bay wasted this opportunity, he just didn't capitalize on it...
