Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men

It would make more sense if he died of alcohol poisoning or he roughed up a hooker one too many times and got what he deserved. :oldrazz:

if the car goes off the cliff while he's getting head, then yeah that could work.

i just really don't see how this can work. i mean the whole dynamic was charlie was a dirty old man but still managed to get everything perfect. kelso just doesn't have that vibe

Well, this new move is called clash of the egos. If they do kill off Charlie's character, they better hope the show doesn't flop without him.

:hehe:

It's funny cause it's true. I'd almost go as far as to say that he'd rather have the show flop without Charlie than have it do well with him back. I think this move is him making sure that's the way things go down.

I don't like the idea of killing him off. I don't watch the show, but it is really disrespectful to fans of the show to just drive a character that they have grown with and loved off of a cliff as a way for the producers to give the finger to the actor with whom they feuded..

I'd say it's alright given the specific nature of his character. He's a womanizing alcoholic that takes pleasure in the misery of others (especially his own family members).

Auto-erotic asphyxiation. If they go that route, I'd actually have to give them a small amount of respect.

And, yes. I do hope this blows up in their faces. :)

Oh I'm sure it'll blow up in their faces. John Cryer's character isnt strong enough to carry the show, so it's basically on Kutcher. Hope they write a strong character for him.

Yeah John Cryer pretty much only covers the demographic that loves schadenfreude.

Ashton Kutcher's Two and a Half Men Role Is Officially Revealed

One of the fall TV season’s biggest mysteries has been solved. Appearing at the Television Critics’ Association summer press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler revealed that Two and a Half Men newcomer Ashton Kutcher will not be playing himself, nor a plastic-surgeried Charlie Harper, nor some “actor” named “Raymond.”

Instead, Kutcher’s character is named “Walden Schmidt, and he is an Internet billionaire with a broken heart,” Tassler told the press. She also noted that the Season 9 premiere “will be a two-parter [airing] over two weeks” starting Monday, Sept. 19, at 9/8c.

Tassler would neither confirm nor deny reports that Charlie’s Sheen’s alter ego, Charlie Harper, would be revealed as dead in the season opener. She also, somewhat curiously, did not directly address speculation that Kutcher’s character would be related to Alan and Jake.

Instead, she only added that the first episode of the “new” Men is “smart, funny, irreverent, and as risqué as the show has always been. People who are fans of the show will be really happy, and we feel that show has an opportunity now to recruit a new audience.”

As for the sordid Sheen situation itself, Tassler, when asked about “lessons learned,” elected to focus on Two and a Half Men‘s future.

“The great news is the show will be as irreverent as it’s always been,” she said. Also: “There is great value in hiring an actor like Ashton Kutcher. He is extraordinarily professional, talented, gifted actor who comes with a tremendous amount of commitment and enthusiasm.”

Asked if she would ever get into business with Sheen again (me: As if!), Tassler deferred, “Charlie has moved on to greener pastures. He’s obviously got a lot of opportunity on his plate.”
So..... not at all? Gotcha. ;)

Kutcher is probably related to Jon Cryer's character through his ex-wife (the mother of his son Jake). Basically, a former in-law.

Ok, I've never really watched Two and a Half Men (bits and pieces here and there). I am watching out of curiousity. Aside from being terrible, this whole episode is basically one big middle finger to Charlie Sheen. The STD gags in particular were very harsh. Very petty on Lorre's part. He had the opportunity to be the bigger man but he just went below the belt, every chance that he got.

Does this really surprise you? I'm no Sheen fan, but pretty much every show Lorre's ever been involved with has led to conflicts between him and the lead actor. The guy's a p***k. :o

Not even his ashes got any respect. They're in a dustbuster.

I'm not really familiar with Lorre's work, so it kind of does suprise me. I'm also suprised that CBS would sign off on it. Then again, I suppose basically every comedy show on their network aside from HIMYM is produced by him, so he probably has them by the balls.

It's like an old Kelso. Kutcher made me laugh, but the show is awful.

I don't remember Lorre having conflicts with the lead actors on Dharma & Greg (that bit with Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson looking at the house was hilarious), The Big Bang Theory or any other Lorre-produced sitcom aside from TaHM and Roseanne.

I did like how Kutcher's character was sort of like Jon Cryer's character, but much more good-looking and socially awkward. Should be interesting to see how this shapes up with the following episodes. And since Sheen, Lorre and WBTV are getting their act together, I don't expect a lot more jabs at Charlie once they start shooting the second batch of episodes.

Even if there are no more, it is still pretty classless as a whole. I doubt I'll be watching again. I snickered once at the most.

I cant lie, this wasnt a half bad attempt. Jon Cryer was hilarious as usual (i swear some of his facial expressions are pure comedy gold) and Ashton was...well he wasn't nearly as bad as i was expecting. I wasn't expecting them to make his character a socially awkward dunce, i was expecting well...Charlie 2.0. I'm intrigued, i'll give the next few eps a shot.

Even when Sheen was around, the only characters sticking around for are Berta and Alan. Charlie, even though the show revolved around him, was a pretty overrated character.

I don't know how Walden Schmidt will fit into the mix. It's an okay episode, the writing isn't nearly as sharp as it was in the first 4 seasons.

He had problems on Cybill and Grace Under Fire too.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. I'm really excited to see where they go with Kutcher.

I missed the first ten minutes. :( How did Charlie die, and why doesnt Alan have Charlie's money?

I was pretty impressed with Ashton.

Saw the first Kutcher episode and... Ashton Kutcher is the new Dick Sargent. This show is DEAD. It's time for CBS to have some juevos and cancel this show NOW. It's out of gas and there's no place for it to go but downhill.

If CBS were smart, they'd have created a new show for Kutcher and moved Big Bang Theory back to Mondays at 9 to carry the night.
