Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men

Saw the first Kutcher episode and... Ashton Kutcher is the new Dick Sargent. This show is DEAD. It's time for CBS to have some juevos and cancel this show NOW. It's out of gas and there's no place for it to go but downhill.

If CBS were smart, they'd have created a new show for Kutcher and moved Big Bang Theory back to Mondays at 9 to carry the night.

The same could be said for the last... oh.... eight years of the show. :o

I predict the show's ratings will be good enough for one more season and next season will definitely be it's last. I'm very curious as to how huge tonite's ratings were.

Kutcher sucked as usual. All the cheap shots taken at Sheen at the beginning of the show was the funniest part. Once Kutcher showed up he sucked the life out of every joke. They would have been better off not replacing Sheen at all and increasing the roles of the other existing characters

See, that's where you're wrong.

There was no life in the jokes to begin with. :o

So you usually think Two and a Half Men is funny, but not How I Met Your Mother?

Is it fun for you? Living on Bizarro World, I mean?

Never seen How I met your mother. But 2 & a half men..tonight, was awesome. I'm sure I'm in minority, but I loved Ashton's character. But this show has been on last legs for a while. It's been same thing too long...

I missed the first ten minutes. :( How did Charlie die, and why doesnt Alan have Charlie's money?

It was heavily implied that his wife pushed him in front of a train and apparently he had several mortgages.

Just call it Two Men already. The kid was barely in the damn thing.

Um...Matt, Charlie's character, at least in the later seasons always had hookers on speed dial. How his character went out and his ashes was a good send off IMHO.

Given the ratings a lot of other people think so as well. HIMYM is saccharine crap. Every time I tune into it they are having one of those serious a character learns an important lesson or somebody is making and up and hugging scenes. It's little more than Friends another cutesy show I despised without Jennifer Aniston, her stupid hair and that stupid former husband of hers.

And as I have stated previously Barney is nothing but a watered down sanitized rip off of Charlie Harper.

Barney's nothing like Charlie. Just because they get plenty of p***y doesn't mean they're the same.

For one thing, Barney's well-written. :o

And Charlie Harper was a poor man's Bill McNeal, who was a poor man's Dan Fielding, who was a poor man's Sam Malone, who was a poor man's Schneider from One Day at a Time. The character type has been in existence for as long as TV. Granted, Barney Stinson is nothing new, but neither is Charlie Harper.

For another thing, It's ****ing Neil ****ing Patrick ****ing Harris ****ing.

Bewitched lasted another 3 years after Dick Sargent showed up...

Bewitched didn't have an internet audience mobilizing against it.

It says something when you have to stretch back 50 years for an example. How long did Doggett replace Mulder for? How long did whatsisface replace Eric in That 70's Show? How long did The Dukes of Hazard get replaced by their stand-in "cousins"? How long did the new class for Saved by the Bell last? How long did Charlie Sheen himself replace Michael J Fox on Spin City? I could go on and on...

I give this tired dog one season left. A shortened second season if it's lucky.

Longer than the original, actually.

Sawyer, you're going to find that sometimes people will have different tastes than you do in certain TV shows.

Please learn to deal with these differences and keep the snide remarks to yourself.

Touche. I looked that up on Wikipedia right now because I couldn't believe it and I'm shocked. :wow: But there are exceptions to every rule I suppose. To save my argument, which one is fondly remembered and showed in syndication and which one is utterly forgotten?

And Charlie Harper was a poor man's Jefferson Darcy, who was a poor man's Dan Fielding, who was a poor man's Sam Malone, who was a poor man's Schneider from One Day at a Time. The character type has been in existence for as long as TV. Granted, Barney Stinson is nothing new, but neither is Charlie Harper.

Actually he was different in that unlike most of those others there was really nothing good about Charlie Harper at all. Charlie Harper was a terrible person in virtually every way and there was never any attempt by the writers to make him more likable like you see in so many other sitcoms (e.g. HIMYM).

Jefferson Darcy would be an exception because his show Married with Children had a very similar tone as Two and Half Men in that it reveled in immoral, crass and obnoxious behavior from its main characters.
