Themanofbat said:Wow.... I've been buying Spidey comics since 1975, and monthly off the rack since 1978.
I must be an expert on Spider-Man...![]()

This thread was about Marvel's mistreatment and abuse of SM lately. Some held out hope that somehoe Spidey would be redeemed by kicking some serious ass.
I seriously doubted that.
And Now that has been confirmed.
Spidey is still the weak, low level, needs to be rescued by people far less powerfull, chump they made him out to be.
my question is do you get our frustration now?
Miss Webb said:LOL, count me in on that, too...I've collected several hundred old isshes of Spidey (except for the 60s stuff) so add me to the 'expert' list!!!t:

Miss Webb said:Yes, you can. Did you know the entire spidey collection is now on DVD? Go to ebay and search "Spiderman DVD" not sure how much it'll be though.
Or, you could do it the old fashioned way and shell out 500 bucks and order 'em online, or buy a collection. Comic conventions are good places to fill out back issues you can't find at comic stores. Certain back issues can be pricey, though. You'll have to shop and compare. I
d say that's the quick way to do it, find out a schedule of conventions in your area and go for it.![]()

I had from around 170ish up to current from buying them off the rack and filling in the issues before that probably set me back $3000 and I've still got around 25 or so issues to go. I'm picky about condition though so that is part of it but I don't think you could get the whole thing even in fair condition for less than $1000. Could be wrong on that though.
Miss Webb said:Hmm, no doubt prices have gone up. I kinda 'topped off' my collection about 6 years ago, but haven't bought nearly as much Spidey. Mostly I've been getting the ASM, altho I went on a small run of getting SSM too. I generally have most issues in the good to very good grade, so the prices are controllable. At one time I had a lot of 'em in plastic sleeves, but it got to be a hassle for storage (they slipped and slid everywhere) so I took 'em off. I know on Ebay they sell the various grades. The trick is getting as many issues as you like from the same buyer, so you can get a reduced shipping fee. It's a pain in the ass to order from five sellers that way.![]()
The rarest comic in my collection actually isn't even spidey...it's THOR #200 which is the actual ragnarok issue. Got the sucker for 12 bucks about 10 years ago on a fluke. it's in solid condition. Try finding that now (even then it took over a year to locate). I've seen mint prices on that for over 6 hundred, and that was awhile ago.

At the time, it was worth 5 bucks, tops... who knew the X-books would go up in value?

I had picked up a VG conditioned copy of ASM #1 in 1990 for $1500.
