The Amazing Spider-Man ASM: Things to improve for the sequel

I would like clarification on what was special about the spider that bit Peter. Watching the movie again, it seems like anyone of those spiders could have given him powers.

I know it's supposed to be a radioactive spider, but this movie made it seem like any idiot could blunder into that room and get powers and especially since the spider didn't seem like it was dosed with radiation or anything.

Also, was it explained what the spider breeding mentioned in the first film was for? Curt Connors says "Then your father bred the spiders and everything changed" or somethinglike that.

If it wasn't explained, I want to know why Richard Parker bred those spiders for.

I don't think they were going for the "RADIOACTIVE SPIDER" Route. Besides, that is completey silly. I'm glad it was a cross-species/new breed.

In the sequel I'd like a bigger focus on the side characters

Now that I think about it, I'm a bit disappointed that there wasn't bigger focus on Captain Stacy. My vision for the movie would've been the story circling the conflict between Spider-Man/Peter and Cap. Stacy. The Lizard wouldn't have had any big plan, he would've been the monster, and while there would've been more human element to his story, it still would've mostly been a tool to tell Peter's and Cap. Stacy's story

The radioactive spider makes more sense since all the spiders have a glow to them in that room. The cross-species idea is that of mixing animal DNA with human, like mixing a lizard's DNA with Connors, but the spiders themselves don't seem to be having mixed DNA, nor do they seem to be a new breed like Raimi's Spidey.

I like that idea. However, they could have made a more concentrated effort to focus on the human aspects of Dr Connors. Showing scenes of him with his family would have greatly helped that cause.

If they don't use Green Goblin I'd like to see Kraven be a supporting villain.

Well notice the spider was hit with electricity right before it dropped on Peter.

No. I didn't see that. Can't wait for the Blu-ray to be out.

Thanks for answering my question.

One thing I wanted to see in this movie, was Gwen blaming Spider-Man for her Father's death.

I wanted to see Peter explain it to Gwen, even if it would have been one of those scenes where there is no audible dialogue, I wanted to see Gwen angry.

No problem :)

Actually, I didn't really notice this until the 4th time I saw the movie. The first few times I thought I saw something, but never really caught onto it.

Well Peter still has the spider saved in a test tube, which Gwen referred to as "beautiful." That means in the future, Peter is going to do some testing on it probably, and find out exactly if its radioactive, or whatever makes it "special."

I can't see them going the tragic scientist route again. My money is on kraven or if the storm in the mid credits scene was any kind of hint then electro, though I believe the man in theshadows was osbourne. Mysterio is the only other possibility I feel.

I'm more worried about them going in the direction of a transformed monster again.

They would be stupid to do that. They lurk around the Internet, they know many fans say it would be too much of the same again, and that's something that probably the GA would feel as well.

Also, Sony should know that Ultimate Green Goblin isn't very popular.

Regardless of whether or not Ultimate GG is hated and whether or not, it doesn't take a genius to know they shouldn't go the route of having another villain being a person that transforms into a giant green monster.

I am just really curious as to how they are going to pull off the Green Goblin costume design. I can't wait for concept art.

I'm curious how they're going to pull off any villain design :P Especially someone like Mysterio (they'd probably go Ultimate on him though :/ )

It's not a given we'll get Green Goblin in ASM2, though very likely. I'd be extremely excited if, out of nowhere, a concept art of Mysterio appears! :)

Since Norman Osborn is very important in this series, I have no doubts we will see him in one of the sequels. How could we not? That would be such a tease lol.

I think Mysterio would be easier to design than Green Goblin or Electro though. Fish bulb! haha

I was talking about ASM2 specifically. Of course he'll be the main villain of the trilogy but I hope they save him for ASM3.

I think Green Goblin will be saved for the third film. Norman will no doubt be appear in Amazing Spider-Man 2, though its a possibility he will make an appearance as Green Goblin sometime towards the end and return for the third film.

The second film could have a main villain, whether its mysterio, kraven, vulture, etc., and the Green Goblin appears sometime in the film (but it is never revealed to anyone that he is actually Norman Osborn), and he kills Gwen by the bridge at the end of the movie, and now in the third movie, Peter has to deal with her death and battle the Green Goblin. Maybe a side villain can be introduced, too.

Me too especially with the whole Norman Osborn is dying thing that was hinted at which makes me think that we might sadly end up with Ultimate Green Goblin.

Then he'll be too much like The Lizard. I don't see it happening...or at least I hope not.

The entire TAS-M series will be a joke if they go the Ultimate Green Goblin route.

I say Green Goblin should have his classic look. They can say its a mask, however, achieve the effect using makeup like they were originally with the Raimi series, however, this time do it more along the lines of how Red Skull's look was done in Captain America: The First Avenger and have it be makeup blended with CGI.

As far as the characterization itself, I say ditch the whole dual personality thing and just have Norman be pure evil.

I wish they would've done the lizard like that! Go as far as they can with prosthetics and then do stuff like the eyes, mouth opening on the sides, and sharp teeth with CGI (teeth CGI because he wouldn't be able to talk really with real sharp teeth)

No skateboarding montages...
Introduction and modernization of the Daily Bugle...
I'd also like to see Peter go to college but maybe that's pushing it.
And if they modified the costume design to look like the classic suit but kept the same colors and textures... Yeah I'd be the happiest man alive.
I like the redesign but I don't find it necessary.
