Not to sound like a dick, but I died a whole lot less when I wasnt near the water. Might not want to walk next to the river in Damascus or near the docks in Acre. I was frustrated as well near the water, till I beat most of the game.

by now... i don;t think its because they can't swim... i think somethings in the water... something not very nice...:wow: maybe it'll be introduced in AC 2... attack of the killer water monsters anyone??

Why do you keep falling in the water? How hard is it to avoid the drunken people? If they are seriously that big of a problem for you, then you must not be very good.

This game is a 7.5 at best. There are VERY few games ever made that qualify for a 10 score and AC defiently isnt one of them

That was my point. The review scores of this game were very misleading. It is not a GOTY caliber game.

Be sure to tell me how fast it collects dust. Or has it already started to?

I'm collecting all the flags. After that I'll experience the story again and see if I catch more of what's going on.

Once a generation, there comes a game that has zero flaws.
Assassin's Creed is that game.

Edit: I think it actually has a "minus" number of flaws, even less than zero lol

Shove it, haters.

Wow. I guess to each their own. I was hoping people that answered would try to be unbiased but I see thats not the case

I can say the same for people who say Assassin's Creed is a 7.5 game or some crap like that.

well I dont come down on teh game for no reason bc I was one of its biggest defenders prior to its release. Go further back in this thread and you'll see that I had alot of high hopes for it and thought it was going to be one of the best games released this past holiday seasons. Iwas really pumped by the perfect scores only to be letdown as it was definetly not perfect. Id like to think Ive been unbiased bc I had nothing against it going in. Its issues and flaws have been pointed out throughout the last several pages. Those arent just made up for people to hate on the game. They are valid points which bring the game down and should bring down its score. Hopefully a sequel can address them and overcome those flaws and make AC2 the amazing game that AC was supposed to be but was not

By the way, apparently Ubi-Soft has banned EGM from receiving product updates and review-copy games, because they're so PO'd that EGM gave their honest opinion of Ass assin's Creed in their last issue. Shoe had an editorial about it in this month's EGM. If they're going to act like a bunch of jack asses over a bad review for a game that probably got higher scores than it deserved at most sites, it makes you wonder if Ubi-soft might be feeling a little 'self conscious' about the game they've made.

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/publishers-allegedly-blackball-egm-for-negative-coverage/

Ubi-soft's knee-jerk reaction towards less-than-AAA reviews seems eerily similar to Eidos' reaction when their crap game Kane and Lynch flopped. But the difference here, is that EGM is sticking to their guns, not the game publisher's lap, as was the case when Gamespot fired Jeff over his 6.0 Kane and Lynch review. Even more proof that EGM is the best game magazine. They write reviews for their readers, and don't care if the game publishers are beotches about it.

And we're not needlessly over-praising for no reason at all. We give it such high marks because in our experience, it really was that fantastic a game and we had an absolute blast with it. Why is it so hard to understand for you blokes? And don't give this "it isn't perfect" bullcrap. No f**kin' game is, so why even bother bringing up something as pointless as that? The game's flaws in our eyes are nowhere near as serious as you chaps keep honking your horn over "they are all VALID!", because the many things Assassin's Creed over accomplishes in deem those shortcomings almost immaterial. Just because your unrealistic hopes of the game failing to give you the heavenly pleasure equivalent of your first *******, hey, that's not our problem now is it?

The problem was, the flaws were not just the little nitpicks that you claim could just be brushed under the rug. The flaws actually caused the game to stop being fun for me after a while. You cannot say that "rinse and repeat gameplay" is something that you can just ignore and that the game deserves a 9. The 9.0 is a very high score that I reserve for games that I truly love from start to finish and beyond, like Oblivion, Call of Duty 4, and so on. With Assassin's Creed, I cannot understand why anyone would go back and play it a second time, because I almost didn't finish it the first time through. The game GOT STALE HALF-WAY THROUGH. And that is why it did not deserve a 9.0. I cannot just say to myself "Well, this game deserves a 9 or 10 if you can just accept that it stops being fun before it's over" as many of the other posters in this thread claim. A game that stops being fun before you finish it does not deserve a score that is reserved for only the best bang-for-your-buck games on the market.

Wow, do you think we are lying to you? Do you think there is an internet conspiracy against you? You make it sound like we are the idiots for liking the game, whereas you and one other person in this thread dont.

I am definitely going back so I can fart around inside the world and kill whoever I want. I like this digital world they made for the game and even if it is the same thing over and over, I still have fun.

See that, I have fun, I have fun.

To be fair, this doesn't prove anything about the legitimacy of EGM's opinions. It means that they will not be bullied by a large corporation, but it doesn't make their opinions of games any more than an opinion. I, personally, find many of their reviews and opinions appalling.

However, this does mean that they are loyal to themselves, and not letting the powers that be pull their strings like marionettes. Kudos to EGM for that, at least.

If you ask my honest opinion, I'd say you're all playing it like dumbasses. The fact that you say ALL the assassinations play the same alone shows how wrong you are. After I complete all the investigations and unearthed every bit of dirt on my target, I always plan my assault like the perfect hit - one strike, target down, no skirmishes with the guards and disappear within minutes, if not seconds.

Take for example the poster who was crying about the drunken sailors pushing him in the water all the time. It's just...sad how much he sucks at this game. If he had paid attention, one of the investigations clearly tell the player to keep away from drunken sailors, another investigation says to keep away from that area altogether and approach the target from the seaside overlooking the tower because it's free from guard patrols. Heck, a pickpocket mission even gives you a map highlighting the most advisable route. That's THREE bloody times the game cautions you not to mess with those drunken sailors. :ninja:

Sure, you can try killing your main targets like half-witted ******s by charging in like bulls towards a red carpet, but it's not our problem if you limped through the game using the dumbest and least satisfying approaches.
