Assassin´s Creed III

-The new Assassin is the son of a Native American woman and a British soldier. His calls himself Connor, but his birth name is Ratohnhaké:ton.

Connor (from Conchobar, an Irish name meaning "Wolf Kin", "Lover of Wolves" or "Lover of Hounds")

So I suppose they got rid of naming the assassins by using different iterations of 'eagle'? What does Ratohnhaké:ton mean? Something to do with wolves as well maybe?

-The game is set between 1753 and 1783, meaning we will be playing a good chunk of Connor's life

The entire American Revolutionary War then plus two years before it. Interesting.

Edit: Editing does wonders. I read it at 1773 and not 53, lol. So we get some twenty years before the war even began...fascinating.

-Settings will include Boston, New York and a large countryside.

Anyone wanna guess that Connor finds that hidden vault/temple?

-Animals will be present in the woods, like deer and bears. The player will be able to kill them and pelt their skins, to sell them later with the reformed economic system of the game.

Just looking at the picture of Connor stalking down that deer makes me giddy like a little school girl.

-There will be puzzles similar to The Truth, only they will not be given by Subject 16.

I bet it's Jupiter that's helping him out. I mean, it WAS Jupiter that found him in the Animus.

-Den Defense will not return. "

Makes sense since there really isn't a great way to even use DD if you're mostly in the woods and what have you. I loved DD in Revelations, though. Would've loved to have it in Brotherhood or AC2 if I knew it was only going to be in one game.

Looks abit dated visually.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug. Makes you say weird things.

I like they are returning back to the format from one and two where you travel to different city's. I was getting tired of spending 90% my time in one place like brotherhood and revelations.

Also, BONUS
"Here is a basic rundown of the new features in the upcoming GameInformer article, to be released next week:

-The new Assassin is the son of a Native American woman and a British soldier. His calls himself Connor, but his birth name is Ratohnhaké:ton. Born into the Mohawk, he eventually crosses paths with the Assassins in his search for righteousness.

-Connor is quiet and stoic, letting actions speak for words rather than conversing with others. In contrast to Ezio, Connor is a freedom fighter who acts in the name of justice rather than on personal revenge.

-The game is set between 1753 and 1783, meaning we will be playing a good chunk of Connor's life, about the timeframe of Assassin's reed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood combined.

-Settings will include Boston, New York and a large countryside. The countryside will be the setting of about 1/3 of the game, and will be the location of many events during the game. The countryside will be about 1.5 times as big as Rome in Brotherhood.

-The protagonist will fight on the American side, with primary allies George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Charles Lee. However, this does not mean that the Americans are the good guys and the British are the bad guys. Templars are everywhere…

-There will be seasons in the game, meaning that the sun will shine during summer and the landscape will be covered in snow during winter.
-Fighting and stealth will be completely re-innovated, with Connor being compared to a “predator”. The player will be able to climb trees and other natural elements, and dual-wielding weapons such as a dagger and a mohawk is now also an option.

-Animals will be present in the woods, like deer and bears. The player will be able to kill them and pelt their skins, to sell them later with the reformed economic system of the game.

-There will be puzzles similar to The Truth, only they will not be given by Subject 16.

-Desmond will go into the new Animus 3.0 and will find himself going into “significant events”.

-100% sync in memories returns, though this time you will be rewarded when you complete memories to 100%. Checkpoints will also be introduced to mission replay, meaning you don’t have to replay an entire mission to get that 100% sync.

-The Brotherhood, or Assassins Guild, will return in some form, albeit differently than we have seen before.

-There will be no more Mercenaries, Thieves, Courtesans, Romani or other factions, but there will be a replacement for them.

-Den Defense will not return. "

Fantastic, simply fantastic.:woot:

AC3b.jpg

This shot right here reminds me of that scene from the Patriot when Mel Gibson is tracking down that caravan of soldiers that just took his son, the Joker, er, I mean Heath Ledger prisoner.

Me, because I read it on the website where I got all that info, from the same source.

Not sure how the last part of his name works... is the 'ton' section like a surname or the name of his clan or something? Is that how it works?

Also, he is Half Indian, Half British.... does this mean part of the story will involve finding out who his father/mother is?

I think we already know who his father is.

Charles Lee was a British officer who, historically, took a Mohawk wife during the French & Indian War (which will apparently be covered in AC3, as it takes place during the time frame listed of 1753-1783) and had two half-blood sons. I'm pretty sure that's a pic of Lee standing on the snowy mountain with Connor sneaking up...."on ol' Pops," maybe? That would explain why a relatively minor character in the historical Revolutionary roster might play a major role in this story.

I lol'd at this, though:

Weaponized hairstyles....CONFIRMED :wow::oldrazz:

I was thinking the exact same thing on everything you mentioned. Get out of my brain.

Yeah, I get that vibe too... Except it's AC, not Rockstar, and I always preferred the immersion of the AC games over the recent Rockstar games. Rockstar sandbox games kinda get old after a while and you end up just being this generic 'kill every NPC ever' type guy, but in the AC games I ALWAYS feel like a bad ass Assassin and I always feel 100% immersed in the time period.

Red Dead and L.A. Noire always felt more about their specific genre than their actual time period to me. Like L.A. Noire felt more like a Detective Noir film than any kind of exploration on the political/social climate of the time period.
Well I wasn't comparing it so much for the gameplay but more for the environment and visuals. Obviously AC and Rockstar games are nothing alike. But even though RDR was primarily see in the Old West, there are glimpses of places in America outside of that. Like there was a colonial town and snowy mountain areas that I believe were next to Native American lands. I don't think I've ever seen those kinds of places portrayed much in video games.

Not to mention the whole hunting/survival aspect that is rumored to be in this was also a huge factor in RDR, even though that game was meant to take place in 1911. In terms of the vibe of the environment, it feels similar and I'm very intrigued to see more because Ubisoft has done a great job capturing the environments perfectly in the past few games, so I'd love to see how it feels to be running around Colonial America.

I've always thought it would be cool if, once they reach modern day and finish that story, do one from the Templar's view.

Well you do get to see bits and pieces of the life of a Templar in the Revelations multiplayer so yes, it would be interesting.

Until then though, I can think of tons of settings:

Old West
Civil War
Napoleonic Era

Looks great.

And happy to hear Washington and Ben Franklin will be in this. Hopefully, our "Q" will be Ben...filling the shoes that Leonardo did.

Yea I hope so. Loved DaVincis part in the last games so I'd like to see someone full that role.

GameRant has a few more tidbits from an upcoming GameInformer article that has a lot more details, but these definitely stuck out:

*Combat is focused on putting you on the offensive and based on speed/momentum. The main character has thousands of new and unique animations (no carry over from other titles) to support the new combat system. There’s no more target locking, it just automatically detects your target. Counter/defense are the same button to prevent turtling.

*Connor is in the heart of major battles, and they can now have a couple thousand guys on screen, whereas before it was capped at about 100.

*The world changes as time passes, so a field where a battle happened in one year may just be a series of empty encampments a few months later. The entire world will change with seasons, so the cities and the wilderness will all exist in both Summer and Winter settings.

*You can now leap over wagons or slide under obstacles, including navigating over and around moving objects. The free running stuff also has you jumping through windows to trees and then on top of church roofs.

Holy crap, its ridiculous how great this game sounds. I'm really happy to hear they've redone the combat. It was one of the things I never liked about any of the Assassin's Creed games.

@Soapy,

Exactly. If anything, a different countries history should be MORE interesting...

Also, I think since Ubisoft is largely a European based developer with a multi-culturtural development team, it's not like we're going to get a MW 3 style 'America, **** yeah!' version of AC.
Hey! MW3 also showed that the British are badass. :oldrazz:

mfw the new Assassin turns out to be the guy who said "The British are coming!"

Please tell me you're joking.

Anyway, this game keeps sounding better each time I read about it. I think it's shaping up to be GOTY.

Ok now i really have to finish Brotherhood and buy Revelations. This just looks amazing. I never thought i would be this excited about an AC game after getting a bit bored of combat etc at the end of AC 2.

Same here. The combat sounds like it will be completely bad ass and hopefully they have some looks at the new system in the trailer this Monday.
