Assassin´s Creed III

Frankly, I find the whole gods/aliens, Adam and Eve, 2012 doomsday thing is pretty convoluted and boring. The best parts of the game are when it's taking place in the historical setting, not dealing with the sci-fi stuff.

They didn't need the animus to explain a HUD or why characters are speaking English. The fact that it's a video game is enough.

Boring?

I thought it was insane. Like...crazy. But, I'm not sure how it could be seen as boring. Maybe you mean uninteresting to you or something. But, the bat****-crazy aspect of it keeps it away from being boring, I think.

Where it gets convoluted, I think, is trying to keep track of whose who and what side throughout history and how they blend they're fiction with history. But, mostly because of how they bounce from time to time throughout many of the puzzles. Some of it is good, but I could see how that could be convoluted.

And sure you didn't need it explained, having a HUD and whatnot. I didn't need it explained either. But, it does something interesting with something that was already/always is there. It's a little meta, how we're playing a game that is being referenced as a videogame...without actually being referenced as the videogame we are playing exactly.

I just think it's far more interesting, and puts to great use the interactivity and elements that you can only find in videogames. The entire aspect of the animus and how it explains us playing a videogame could never be as useful, or as great, as it is for a videogame.

I do agree the best parts of it are the historical ones. But, I think that also has to do with those being the most focused, most fleshed out parts too. For those who've played all of the Assassin's Creed games...we've spent by far the most time as Ezio. By alot.

I can respect that and see your point but the entire series has been leading up to the stuff in the persent day with the sci-fi elements. It cant stay in the past forever and to progress the series forward it needs to eventually deal with the character progression and revelations which Desmond has uncovered. It would be a huge dissapointment if none of that comes into play and/or is downplayed. One of my main gripes with Revelations was that it didnt realyl do anything to push Desmond's story forward at all and in fact was too disconnected from the game in a large way as opposed to being a central point and seamingly interwined with the past segments through the Animus.

I must be in the minority, because while I do enjoy the historical aspect of these games, the main storyline about the whole doomsday thing and whatnot is what I like the most.

I was super excited about Revelations mainly because I wanted to see where the story went next. Like I wanted to see what happened with Desmond, Lucy, and also to see what happened with Ezio and Altair and how they were tied together.

With this one, I want to see how they end this trilogy, or Desmond's story. I don't care much about the setting as much as I do for the story, but with that said, I love the look so far and I'm sure that they'll pull off something great. Especially if they've spent 3 years working on it. Assassin's Creed is one of those franchises that I can trust enough to know I'll enjoy the game no matter what.

What I dislike the most is the Roman gods were actually aliens and that the first humans were technologically advanced society like in Star Wars. I just think "Ok, whatever :whatever:"

I'd rather the series just be an anthology of various assassins in different time periods. There's more flexibility with it since you don't have to try to tie them all together by being ancestors of some protagonist in the future or the whole Eden stuff. I find it more interesting that the Assassins are an underground vigilante society fighting against corruption and influencing major political events than giving them some greater purpose by saving the world hundreds of years in the future.

I figure I'm in the minority on this because I'm a history enthusiast. I like history in my sci-fi but not sci-fi in my history.

I have every Assasins Creed game and have only played something like 20 minutes of 2.
I bought that newer one today as it was only £14. I agree with the fellow, who said that thing. The future crap is full of people I don't like. The matrix visual stuff popping up in old people time was very annoying. I also don't like that it isn't real but a computer brain thing.

Same, and I like how even though the game is set in the American Revolution, the game won't just go with an Anglo-Saxon American protagonist yet, and has gone for Native American.

Looking at the painted images I wouldn't think so, but it looks like a completely different person compared to the digitally rendered ones, which does seem more mixed, since he is wearing Native American clothing, but the colours of the American flag.

I had no interest in playing Revelations (probably never will play it) and kind of burnt out on AC after Brotherhood, but the images released today have got me very pumped about ACIII.

Its a great game but more of the same. ACR doesnt do anything innovative with the series or push it forwad. Its more of a lateral move and a point where the series plateu'd

He's mixed isn't he? That was the vibe I got.
I think I read somewhere that he does have Native American heritage. And based on the cover image of Game Informer and the cover art, I wouldn't be surprised if he shared facial similarities to Desmond the same way Ezio and Altair did when they were young. I would even bet he has a cut on his lip.

I love how his little hatchet looks like the assassin symbol.

Man I really gotta get to work on revelations, after mass effect 3 I'll work on it

I'm interested in seeing how the colors can be toyed around with the customization options of previous Assassin's Creed games.

Can't wait for this game! I've been hooked on AC since the first, but part of me does hope this is the last. At least the last of desmond and the 2012 story.

I don't think it will be.

The only way I can see them ending Desmond's story, is by finally giving him his own solo game.

They've said that III is the ending, though.

Granted, far be it for them to change their minds, but at this point...it should be.

I think it will be the end of Desmonds story, but no way this is the final AC title. History is FILLED with areas they could explore.
