He's a better look at the poster art. It's classic McFarlane. I really hope he does more work with them.

I've got a *real* good look at the poster art, since it's hanging on my wall. :oldrazz:

I dont need to. Pirates and swashbuckling are FAR too underrepresented in games. With what we know of AC, the fact that the combat is unrivaled, the ship controls are the best in the industry and visually AC is always ahead of the pack, theres nothing left to see. The only thing that could hold it back would be story, but even then that wont compare to the fact that we finally will get a well made game featuring pirates. Poor story is easily overlooked if the game play is good, which AC has always had.
See, but that's the thing, a lot of people, critically speaking, don't enjoy the gameplay, and the fact that its been repetitive doesn't help. Personally, I've never had a problem with this, but I can see how people would say that the combat and gameplay is too easy since all you do is hold down a button to climb and just have to wait for an enemy to indicate he's moving so you can kill multiple guys huddled up around you.

I think it they would change the climbing to something like Sleeping Dogs where it doesn't seem so automatic, then it would get more praise.

I absolutely love and slightly hate AC gameplay. It's great but it's not perfect. Some parts are so annoying just down to the controls and targeting.

Iv never had an issue with anything about the controls. It doesnt need to be any more complicated when it comes to the free running as Altair, Ezio and Connor are so adept at doing that it shouldnt be difficult for the user to either. The way they handled it in ACIII was its best system yet.

Same goes for the combat, you RARELY come across anyone even remotely skilled as the main protagonist. Its nothing for those guys to take out multiple enemies without so much as breaking a sweat. The only thing id like them to add, are maybe one hit kills. If you get slashed in the back with a sword, game over.

No one has any problems with the gameplay of AC, it's the gameplay loops. Fighting and climbing are great, it's just how they're utilised that makes it either successful or bland.

Take tree climbing in AC 3. An awesome addition. But most of the time, you either had to go out of your way to do tree climbing or a mission just had one, set treeline path for you to take. It wasn't fully utilised. The trees didn't become a predators playground in the same way that florentine rooftops did in AC 2.

Same for combat. It's great fun but you need to shake up the circumstances for fighting, don't base a whole mission around it. There weren't enough mission that let you tackle things in your own way, like previous games.

AC works best when it gives you a set of exciting tools, a riveting characters and time period and lets you play historical fantasy in your own way.

You bugger! I pre-ordered my copy, but I didn't get a poster, hopefully I get it with the game.

Exactly, that's why I don't appreciate this synchronization stuff too much as well. "Sure you can create your own strategy, but if you do it our way you get a trophy". Wasn't a problem in the Ezio games, but in III, it's basically one way in, one way out for every mission.

It was fine in Brotherhood because it was just things like "Don't get detected, don't lose health" which is good because it's a challenge but not restrictive. To me, that replaces the need for a difficulty setting at all, just giving something to make you feel like a true Assassin.

I don't mind the sync stuff because its basically a way that allows you to do things in the way that they actually happened. I mean, the animus is supposed to be Desmond reliving the memories from the eyes of his ancestors. It was never meant as a way to change history. It's fine because it doesn't force you do it their way in order to progress through the story. Its more of an optional thing which is there for trophy ****es like myself who would replay missions to get those perfect ratings.

Yeah, I love trying to get the "Don't lose health, don't get detected, do it in under two minutes" sync, because that's the kind of stuff we're trying to avoid anyway. But when it becomes forceful "Use only the hatchet, use only the trees, do not swim", it just takes away from the strategics.

Though, with all this talk of Black Flags being the 'most open, most free' game, I'm hoping it means we get to plan our own attacks. Say what you will about AC1, they gave you a ton of options and let you at them.

Hey guys I don't know where to post as this is a technical issue. I wasn't able to play ACIII because of this and I decided to try it again now but still, due to minimum requirements, the game crashes for every 3 or 5 minutes. Is there anyway I can get over this? I'm playing this on a Samsung laptop.

Gah. So f'ing awesome.

So stoked. I wonder if they'll release a trailer that's done using only PS4 footage?

Agreed with all this.

We probably won't see anything next gen related until after Microsoft officially unveils their system, and possibly not until E3. I did hear that IGN saw the current gen and next gen versions of Watch Dogs and said the current gen version doesn't look as good, and I assume that'll be the case with most games that are being released on both gens.

I kinda don't wait to see the difference just yet because I won't be getting into the next gen for a while, but I will say that this trailer, which I assume is running on the gameplay engine, doesn't look any better than the past games.

I'm going to buy at least one game for both current and next gen, maybe this or Watchdogs so I can appreciate the difference. That stuff interests me for some reason.

Yea and that's why I'm so interested to see the next gen stuff. If it really is a big leap forward I may adopt the new systems earlier. My plan was to just get this and watchdogs for the 360 but I might wait and get them on one of the next systems if I feel it's worth it

Yeah, there's no question that the next gen will look better, its just a matter of how much better. I remember when I got my Wii and my brother got a PS3, we both got Tomb Raider Underworld and I thought the graphics were good on the Wii until I saw how much better they were on PS3.

The reason I don't really want to focus on the difference too much is because I don't want to lose any appreciation for the PS3 games that I'll still get. There's a number of reasons why I won't get a PS4 right away and I don't want to feel tempted to get it too early.

Hah, I think it was out of spite. He left Ubi, went to THQ, they went under, his team got bought by Ubisoft then they fired him for leaving in the first place.
