I wasn't fan of the gameplay in the modern day it was boring after the first go around just not enough interesting things to do. It's been getting better gradually over the series but I wouldn't want the sci-fi elements removed. I actually want more of the sci-fi elements introduced I'd like to be able to weld more POE like Excalibur or the spear of Destiny.

I thought the whole present day stuff was interesting as a frame for the actual Assassin stories, a good way to introduce us to each time frame and protagonist. The animus is an intriguing idea. But the gameplay was just sooooo boring and then the plot (for me) just feel apart the end. I had no idea what was going on near the end of AC3. Granted I probably missed some plot point from not playing Brotherhood or Revelations, but I just didn't care about Desmond or any of that stuff once it became so convoluted.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if they ditched the animus and framed AC4 with Connor telling the story of his grandfather. I know that's not gonna happen, but it might have worked just as well. There was even a line in the King Washington DLC from Connor about how he would tell that story "another time" or something.

Then you have a possible problem of an unreliable narrator though.

I tend to be on the opposite side for the most part. I always found the ancestor stuff pretty dull and boring. There was a certain novelty to seeing historical sites and such, but it quickly wore off for me. The only one I really liked was Ezio in ACII (his others were okay, too, but duller). I was always interested in the modern stuff more, just seemed more fascinating. One of the reasons I dropped the franchise with III is that it had another ancestor story. Just lost interest trudging through another one of those to get to the **** I really liked.

Speaking of that, though, is ACIV more standalone? That seems contradictory to what I just said, but I still found the games pretty fun overall. I may jump back into it with IV if it's more of it's own thing without having to worry about any of the stuff in three.

Haha.. Yeah.. Watch Dogs on current gen looks... Wait for it... Like PS2 graphics.

You guys are referencing the Alisha Taylor trailer or whatever, right? Ubi said that video was no representative of any actual version of the game. There was some kind of mistake in it's release. Something about how certain filters weren't applied that should've been, apparently the main team wasn't aware of it being released in the first place. Or something like that. I'm sure the current gen will look fine.

True, but it's a fairly common method for framing a story to start with a narrator like that and then go into details that the narrator wouldn't necessarily know or have. But hey, I'm just rambling here. It's not like this is the Ubisoft writer's room.

Either way, I'm hoping Black Flag will be a mostly stand-alone story in the past with as little future stuff as possible.

I'm getting both versions of this game. I hope the 360 version looks at least as good as other top current gen games and that the next gen version looks a hell of a lot better! Wil be interested to see the differences.

Gamestop just announced that if you buy a 360 version of this game and a few others, you can sell it back for $50 if you upgrade to the xbox one version. I may do that with this game

Whens the One/PS4 coming out? Like 2 weeks after that? If thats the case i can wait. I cant wait a full month after release to play ACIV tho. So if the One/PS4 hits around the 29th of Nov, ima just get ACIV for 360 then rebuy it for one of the other systems.

Yeah, but you'll be out like $10-15 bucks, and having to start over completely on the same game. It's your money and all, but that seems pretty wasteful to me.
