With the Ratchet and Clank movie looking amazing. I was happy about the new age of video game movies!

Until I read THIS! :-(

I'm okay about no Desmond Miles, but what do they mean about no scenes from the past? That's the whole concept of the series. That's like doing Star Wars without spaceships or Back to the Future without a time machine.

I cannot help but shake the feeling they are walking down the same path tread by the creative team of the Doom film. It showed what happens when you jettison important components of the source mythology.

Pretty sure there is another Thread for this

But i dont get it. Why do they do stuff like this with video game adaptations when they know it will piss off the core fanbase

let's make a movie based on a video game series.............

but let's not make it resemble the game.........

...........yeah...........

And this is why video game movies are always bad.

wow you guys are funny. BS Rumor from a no name site and people always bite.

Yeah that doesn't even look like a legit site.

That and Fass has been linked to this for a while and likely was the one to pull Macbeth director, Justin Kurzel, to the project. The film's in good hands.

These news suck, i second Jonathancrane, it looks like it's heading the same way of the awful Doom adaptation, where the main concepts are dropped in order to get something more generic and boring.

It's fake. This site posts so much BS.
Fassbender is still linked to this and will film in 2015. He's doing 'Trespass Against Us' until August, 'The Light Between Oceans' in the fall, most likely do Macbeth promo for the Awards season (Macbeth might be released in early 2015) then probably shoot 'Assassin's Creed' or 'Garagistas' after

I really really hope it's just BS! I love AC. It can be HUGE if done right.

Ubi is financing a large part of the project themselves. Why would they destroy their own money maker? No Parkour and Assassins (with trademark hood and fighting style) is insane!

I hope it's BS, but it wouldn't surprise me.

This is the problem with video game movies. For years, they tried to adapt ones that had essentially no story to tell (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat), or a story that simply wouldn't work in a movie (Super Mario Brothers), and of course the movies sucked. Then they finally wised up and realized that you should try and adapt games that HAVE a good story. Only what do they do? They f***ing change key elements of the story and ruin it, turning it into something it was never intended to be.

I agree. I hope it is fake, but with the way video game films have been treated for decades, would it really surprise anybody?

No, it wouldn't.

I just don't get it. You have a property that is popular. People will go see a film about it if it stays fairly true to the original. But then someone walks into the office after an all-night bender and says, "SCRAP THAT! LET'S TURN ASSASSIN'S CREED INTO THE DA VINCI CODE!" It makes no sense.

I hope the item in question is baloney

Most video games actualy had story potential, even the ones with barely any plot like Doom or Mario, the first one could be an incredibly fun gory experience, Evil Dead in space to be exact, while Mario should probably be an animated film, like they're planning for Sonic.

Mortal Kombat is considered one of the best video game adaptations, partialy because it follows the video game very closely, while still making it cinematic enough. Street Fighter was a mess, both movies needed to be like the games, and the Street Fighter II animated movie is exactly how those films should be like.
