I couldn't tell you if my PS4 was playing at 1080.

Since I have an HDTV, and HDMI cable, and a PS4 I would think so, but I wouldn't know.

wait.....you still have a PS4? thought you returned it?

Past tense. I returned that sucker. Which honestly, given what a disappointment Destiny was, I am kind of happy about it.

I will probably wait for the next iteration of the PS4. But even if I do get one before then, I sure as hell am not paying 50 dollars for Destiny.

ah. that's what I thought......

He will be able to tell if he has a big mans TV. :p

I have a 40" tv. so, for all practical purposes, I probably won't be able to tell the difference.

however, DAI is yet another example in the trend. that currently, the X1 seems to have a harder time getting games to 1080p. It's not impossible, of course. But, for whatever technical reason, devs just seem to have a harder time getting their games to 1080p on the X1.

and that just reinforces my decision to stick with the PS4 this generation. Given my gaming needs and habits, I think owning more than one current gen console is impractical for me. So, if I'm going to stick with just one, I might as well stick with the one that's more "powerful" on the gaming side. cuz that's the primary purpose of these gaming consoles - to play games.

I can tell a difference on most TV's.. But I've worked closely with them for 10+ years. Once 4K becomes standard (I still say that's a good 3-5 years away) if games adapt to that.. Man.. The difference will be extremely noticble.

Haha that's a pretty damn expensive tv.

I had an 02 Suzuki Intruder that my uncle gave me a few years back but It recently crapped out so I sold it. I'll be getting a 2014 or 2015 Ninja 300 here in the next month or two though.

.

man if you think that's expensive... I'm pretty sure samsung's got a 105" for like, $150K.

OK well post pics of your new bike when you get it

Of course? You don't expect them to give you them for free?
no man, I meant back when blu-ray was introduced, everybody who had the DVDs had to re-purchase their movies in blu-ray. I was hoping that the tech in blu ray discs were future proof enough that once the successor to 1080p came about, that blu-rays could automatically render in 4K. as it stands this is the same case as when blu ray was first released.

so all the blu ray collections are obsolete if we all have to, once again, upgrade to 4K blu ray discs.
Some films werent shot at 4K resolution and will never be in 4K. However, the new discs are going to be 66 gigabytes or 100 gigs (they havent picked one or the other yet). That's more room for the film which means less compression which means better video and audio. So even films not shot in 4K will eventually get re-released on the new higher capacity blu-ray discs.

yeah. i bet those films also were not 1080p so it is the same as having them released onto blu rays.

No offense, but you seem to not understand how blu-rays, video files, and film masters work...Ill try to give you the gist of it. Been a while since Ive had to explain this to anyone (used to do it a lot for family members) so I may be a bit rusty.

Current blu-rays cant render a 1080p file in 4K anymore than a dvd can render a 480p file in 1080p, because the video file on the disc has a finite amount of resolution/pixles/data. A blu-ray player can upscale the image to 4K but thats not the same as having a true 4K file on the disc. Just like upscaling a 480p DVD to 1080p is not the same as a true 1080p file. A dvd upscaled to 1080p can never look as good as a bluray with a native 1080p image, and a 1080p blu-ray upscaled to 4K can never look as good as a native 2K, 4K, or 8K image.

So if you want a true 4K image or any resolution higher than the 1080p file on the blu-ray you have to go back to the Master copy of the film that the studio has which is usally 2K, 4K, or 8K and create a new copy at whatever resolution current home video tech can handle. Then you put that higher resolution file on the disc. These higher resolution files require discs with more capacity (more layers) and better codecs. To read these discs you need new hardware (players).

Thats just the way it is.

Now, granted you could say "Well then the hardware should have been future-proofed." It should have been but it cant be. Bluray was patented and created by Sony and it and a group have control over blu-ray and its designs and codecs and specs and yada yada yada point is that to maintain uniformity and capatability across many releases and many different players from many different companies and studios there are standards decided on for the format. Until Sony and the others decide what that hardware and software standard is companies cant and wont begin producing hardware and software according to those standards. The specs for 4K players and discs arent finalized yet so companies cant begin making 4K players or releasing software updates yet and there was no way they could have future proofed their hardware and sofrware for 4K before those specs are finalized.

What I found odd is that they're not white.

Anyone else find that odd? Though the Assassins seem to not all be wearing white anymore, but still.

well.....yeah.....the current AC games seem to have moved away from the white outfit.

Not really since white hasn't been the color of the assassin suit since Brotherhood back in 2010. The AC3 bundle for PS3 wasn't white either

Meh. Still seems like a wasted opportunity.

I would have considered it.

Thats a good deal! If I wasnt strapped for cash Id pick that bundle up.

Not sure if I want that bundle or the COD bundle... the thing is I don't care for COD but if I have it, I'll play it. Assassin's Creed I'll buy either way.

The COD bundle comes with a 1TB hdd though... and I already have Black Flag. I'm torn :(

The CoD bundle has a 1tb HDD which >>>> all other bundles as that's not something you can upgrade yourself. You can always buy ACU separately, but you cant add another internal drive once you purchase the system. The color scheme of the system could be a turn off though as well as the price.

I wonder why they're being so stingy with the 1 TB HDD. You'd think more space means people would be less reluctant to buy more content, putting more cash in Microsoft's wallet.

Everything Microsoft does is done to maximize profits so somehow they've found a way to maximize profits by withholding that 1TB drive. Or at least that's what they think and that's why they are going with this business model.

Yeah but didn't they also think the Xbox One was a good idea?

Well I never said they were the brightest bunch.:funny: They are efficient at making a profit but their tech and software leaves something to be desired.
