Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Yeah, also the weather can’t be helping.
Coincidentally enough, I remember there was also a big winter storm during the first Avatar's opening weekend that more than likely affected its BO numbers. The only difference apart from this being Avatar 2's second weekend is that back then that storm was relegated to the east coast of the U.S. and not the entire country like this one.

Oh yeah that’s true. So the first film had a muted opening weekend and this weekend could be even more muted, but with all the weekday holiday bonuses coming up after.

Christmas and New Years being holiday weekends this year means a more muted weekend box office but what helps it is that a lot of people are off from work/school this coming week which means better weekday numbers.

That's what I thought too.
They disappeared when the eclipse happened and the chief's daughter wasn't even off the ship yet so there was definitely a lot cut. Didn't make sense for them to bail when they had probably even more reason to hate the humans on the ship than Jake's family after they killed the tulkun.
As I understand them from their speech to tulkin's actions
they were like pacifist and only went to war against the whalers who later abandoned ship. The Sully's and own kids were the cost of war. So the Blue squad avatars and Marines after Jake. The actions against the shipwrecked being hidden behind the flames could have been whatever we want to imagine, from showing mercy to a total massacre.

Yeah, the number should be big by the time everything opened back up after NY’s bank hol.

Can't stop thinking about her. :ilv::ilv::ilv:

"Despite some parts of the country being under 43 inches of snow, and some communities even having driving bans, Christmas delivered more money to Disney/20th Century Studio’s Avatar: The Way of Water than anticipated. Instead of hitting the studio’s anticipated $21.5M [Christmas Day], the James Cameron directed sequel delivered $29.5M sending the pic’s 3-day to $64M, -52%, with Disney raising its 4-day outlook to $90M."

Box Office: ‘Avatar’ Hopes To Earn $82M, As Theaters Impacted By Storm Elliott – Deadline

Current Domestic: $261M
Current International: $602M
Current Total: $863M

To be honest i think James needs to stop with this Avatar nonsense and make a R-Rated action film with practical effects or something. Because this looks so ridiculous ugly, i think alot of filmmakers dont take him serious anymore after this Avatar crazyness.

Point is, I think you’re highly underestimating how respected Cameron is in the director world. You’re solely basing it off *your* dislike for the films.

And hey, dislike them! That’s cool. But come on, it’s already on its way to 1.5 billion+, has been mostly greeted with praise with critics, and you’re saying he should walk away cause filmmakers don’t respect him anymore while all signs point to the very opposite of that?

What I wouldn’t give for the Na’vi version of Twins.

Semi-off topic but True Lies would have been a better movie if DeVito was in it instead of Tom Arnold. DeVito is evergreen, Tom Arnold is a 15-minute-of-famer.

Hoping to see this on New Year's Day.

I still remember seeing Titanic on New Year's Eve, thinking we'd be just about the only people in the theater. It was PACKED and sold out.

With a semi vacation period and many theater chains running permanent cut priced Tuesday's folks getting around the 3D upcharge just might show up in mass.

As a spy you would have had to suspend your disbelief that Danny DeVito have actually qualified. It would be like Linda Hunt on NCIS LOs Angeles. Sure it could be overcome but it would take extra work to do so.

This also happened in that movie.

I checked my disbelief at the door. :o
