Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

I effing loved that part LOL
It just might be the best part of the movie.

I gotta hand it to Cameron, he knows how to deliver a satisfying villain death. Only time he let us down there was having Cal survive the Titanic sinking and later killing himself after the stock market crash was explained away in dialogue.

I want a non-Na’vi alien villain next if possible.

Can't stop thinking about her. :ilv::ilv::ilv:

Did a great job with giving this character unique, realistic looking visuals/movement/
personality.

That would get in the way of the story's theme of humanity as the enemy
If they keep that as the only theme for all 5 films it might start getting boring. There could be alien races who have the same negatives as humans have and are looking to take over.

Ha he likes everything. Woudnt take him to seriously. Just someone who has no principles. He knows they could be both oscars winners.

Which is it? His colleagues don't respect him for Avatar or want to nominate him for their most prestigious awards based on that movie they apparently don't respect him for?

With posts like these, you are trolling. So go focus your energy somewhere else

I was definitely getting Alien 1 Ripley vibes from Kiri even though Sigourney was 28-29 when she filmed that and obviously not a teenager. Her voice didn't even sound that out of place to me given she's playing a much younger character.

I think James Cameron mentioned they had old outtakes that Ridley Scott still had of Weaver back then for Alien that they used to scan in.

So watched this over the Holiday weekend. It was a beautiful movie but wasn't really invested with the next generation. It also really felt like over a 3 hour movie. I looked at my watch a few times.

Nice likeness for a very young Sigourney. A CGI character that looks very much alive.

I was very tired when I watched it so hard to say but was struggling towards the end. I'd go back for the visuals but with time constraints wouldn't mind doing a 2 hour showing and skipping part of it. :D

Final 4-day holiday numbers 20th Century Studios/Disney’s Avatar: The Way of Water came in with $95.5M in its second 4-day weekend. Global is nearing $1 billion. Nancy will have more on that soon.

That 4-day weekend is just under that of Rogue One‘s 4-day second weekend of $96.1M, the last time Christmas fell on a Sunday in 2016. Monday’s $31.5M is just under that of the Star Wars prequel too which made $32M. Total stateside cume of $293.2M is 26% ahead of the original Avatar‘s first 11 days in 2009. That movie crossed the $400M threshold on its 23rd day of release (Jan. 9, 2010). Many wonder if Avatar 2 hits that mark as soon as New Year’s weekend.

Meanwhile, Avatar 2 has now earned $105.5M in IMAX global box office in less than two weeks — the fastest film to hit the $100M mark in IMAX since April 2019. James Cameron’s epic sci-fi sequel is only the 9th film in IMAX history to exceed $100 million in global box office. To date, IMAX has accounted for 11.4% of the film’s global gross on only a fraction of its total screens.

Through Monday, Avatar: The Way of Water has grossed $38M in U.S./Canada for Imax, 14% of domestic ticket sales to date. Offshore, Imax counts $67.5M.

The share of IMAX is very high. People want to see this ok premium format. It’s only the 3D I wouldn’t bother with again for any subsequent viewings. I like my screen brightness too much.

Crazy how this movie is making so much money and none of my movie going friends have so much as mentioned it on social media. Who is watching this?

It's almost like the mystery of how Arby's stays afloat when I never see people at one or talk about one.

Same man. No memes, no conversations, only things posted is about its box office.

But it still rings true, never bet against James Cameron.

I know a bunch of people who never go to movies who either saw it or planned to. And a bunch of my movie going friends have seen in more than once. I saw it again yesterday and the theater was packed.

And if you actually get out of your car and walk into an Arby's you'll see people eating there. A whole world exists outside of personal bubbles.

The film has a much broader appeal than your average blockbuster. So even though most 20/30 year olds aren't as excited as they are for other films a big chunk of them will still see it while you pick up a ton more from older generations who barely go to the cinema and don't use social media a whole lot.

Time and time again, social media is not the real world.
