Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

I think he means you need to get off your ass to get in a car and actually go somewhere. It actually takes effort, not just sitting on your couch at home, never leaving the house kind of thing.
Bingo.

I can only offer my anecdotal experience, but I think the whole "crowds are terrible" meme is massively overblown and perpetuated primarily by people that have already checked out of going to the theater.

I go to the movies a lot; it's not an exaggeration to say I go more than 99% of the country does. Virtually never do I experience the audience being disruptive and ruining the experience. The odds are much higher that there's going to be a technical problem than there is a bad audience member.

I just saw SKINAMARINK a few days ago. If ever there was a movie that should've had disruptive audience members, it was that one. Instead, it was a 3/4 full theater and there were no walkouts, no jeering, no unmotivated laughter, no cellphones, no talking. Hell, there was nary even the sound of people shuffling in their seats. There might have been a sneeze or a quick throat clearing, but if that's enough to ruin a movie for you, that's a you problem and you should probably talk to a professional about that.

People should just own that they're too lazy/misanthropic to go out to the movies and stop blaming the audience. :D

That's where people make their mistakes, never go to a crappy theater that you only go to because it's nearby. Also, you don't always have to see a movie on Thursday/Friday night (unless it's a non blockbuster). Matinee is your friend.

I watched it in the biggest IMAX of my country…in the afternoon

If it's for a Marvel movie or some highly anticipated blockbuster I tend to try to go to the opening night Thursday show. Yeah you'll get the fanboy cheering but that only made watching movies like Endgame and No Way Home more fun. Everyone there is invested in the movie so you're unlikely to get obnoxious people with their phones out or little kids not being quiet.
I’ve said this for years: Opening NIGHT crowds for a blockbuster are the best - those are the diehards who care as much about the experience as you. They laugh and cheer when they’re supposed to, and more importantly, they shut up when they’re supposed to. Opening WEEKEND crowds are the absolute worst, because it’s all the casuals who just wanted to get out with their kids or whatever and see the thing people are talking about. The experience is nothing special to them and they have no qualms about being disruptive.

If you can’t make it opening night, best to wait for a weekday matinee if you can, tbh.

I think it's going to land somewhere in the 2.2 billion area and if so it's going to be a neck-to-neck battle. Especially now that Titanic is being re-released at the same time. :oldrazz:
Cameron got nervous that Cameron might take Titanic down so was forced into this move lol. In his dreams Cameron is his worst box office enemy. :D

Who else has a batting average well above $2B from their last 3 films? :D:
Also what other franchise made almost 3 billions with the first entry and another 2+ for the second one? It took Star Wars seven movies to go for those 2 billions and Marvel about 20. And that was with 60 years of well-established characters and lore.

People were saying that the original Avatar made all those money only because of the 3D gimmick. And yet 13 years later here we are.

I see it topping out at about $650 million domestic.
It's projected to make another 20 million this weekend, which will have it a bit shy off 600 million in the US and if it overperforms like most weeks it will pass that mark. I'm fairly positive it will make more than 650 until it's over.
