Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Titanic 3 is re-realesed Feb 14. It will take away 3D screens from Avatar 2. Cameron gets money from both movies. this is funny. o_O

Titanic doesn't appear to be releasing in IMAX though, so Avatar will still have those screens until Ant-Man comes out on 2/17.

MONDAY AM: Walk-up ticket sales over MLK weekend just keep going up and up and up. Disney is reporting that 20th Century Studios/Lightstorm’s Avatar: The Way of Water had a better Sunday than anticipated, $11.6M vs. what they thought would be $10.3M, which will get the fifth weekend of the James Cameron movie to $40M over 4-days. Wow. That’s bigger than the $24.6M that Spider-Man: No Way Home did a year ago over MLK. Pic’s running total is now $572.4M. Next tentpole for this sequel to beat on the all-time US/Canada box office list is The Incredibles 2, which ranks 12th with a domestic total of $608.5M.

I'm thinking Way of Water will max out around $2.2 billion or so, which would be remarkable audience retention for a franchise with 13 years between installments.

And as others have pointed out, the budget for the third installment will be much smaller due to the shooting and production schedules. This franchise is money in the bank for Disney and Lightstorm Entertainment...

It's got to be the safest franchise out there at this point lol.

Am I the only one that's never needed a bathroom break in a cinema? Am I special?

it’s 3,5 hours! And you drink a lot because of Nachos/Popcorn
Not unusual to drain the lizard in this timespan

The trick is to not go to the bathroom for an extended amount of time beforehand, then go before the movie when your bladder is full. It worked for me both times I watched The Way of Water in theaters. Never even got the urge during the second time I saw it where I easily would have gotten up to use the bathroom.

The trick is to not go to the bathroom for 2 days before and then drink 7 litres of fizzy drinks and 4 litres of coffee and arrive an hour early.

I'm still confused about Cameron's reasoning of being "tired of sitting on my ass" with streaming.

When I'm watching something on a streaming platform:

When I'm watching something in a theater:

If anything, you're more limited being in a theater whereas you're free to stand up and move around watching something at home if you want.

That's where people make their mistakes, never go to a crappy theater that you only go to because it's nearby. Also, you don't always have to see a movie on Thursday/Friday night (unless it's a non blockbuster). Matinee is your friend.
If it's for a Marvel movie or some highly anticipated blockbuster I tend to try to go to the opening night Thursday show. Yeah you'll get the fanboy cheering but that only made watching movies like Endgame and No Way Home more fun. Everyone there is invested in the movie so you're unlikely to get obnoxious people with their phones out or little kids not being quiet.
