Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Is Cameron watching movies in cinemas standing up? :o
But yeah, he has a point. Streaming is good and offers a comfort that is much needed at times but it can never replace the exhilarating experience of cinemas and it shouldn't be the default option for audiences, especially for huge tentpole films. Avatar 2 proved once again that the medium is here to stay and it transcends every new trend and alternative that might appear.

Engame made in China 630millions,Infinity War 350 and Fast 7 390millions. Avatar is hugeeee in china. Without covid in the last 2 years i think Avatar 2 would made in china 300-400 more. Its worldwide BO at the end of its run would 100% be over 3 billions.

Maybe it will get a rerelease to take advantage of that later.

It’s funny he says that as the cinema is the only time I’m sitting when watching a film lol.

The cinema and streaming are such different experiences that one was never going to kill the other.

Yeah, probably would have done a lot more under normal circumstances in China. Although I suppose it could also be a matter that people there are waiting for all the new releases at the end of January in time for the Chinese New Year.

More confusing might be the poor performance in Japan. Only a little over $20 million so far while the first made around $170 million

Wow, that's looking like it will be a huge decrease in Japan then even it has great legs. Wonder why that is.

That is crazy about Japan that’s a big drop from a first movie.

The weekday numbers have normalised to an extent in the mid 3s and 4s, but looking like great weekend holds will continue judging by forecasts I’m seeing.

What's the forecast for this weekend?

EDIT: don't worry buddy seen it. That would be a great hold.
I should have just mentioned at the time. :yay: Seen varying forecasts from as low as 30m up to 38m. Anything between those would be very good. Also seems like it’s holding very well overseas.

I saw it a few nights ago in 3D, it was uplifting, emotional, sad, and intense. Cameron brought a fierce pace to this. The time flew buy and I wanted more. When I finished it I believed it’s only part of what was supposed to be more story. WOW ended like it was still just the beginning, Cameron confirmed it was one movie split into two makes sense. After seeing wow Cameron’s filmmaking craft needs more time to tell the story in his style for the AVATAR sequels, Cameron brings themes of emotions, conflicts, joys and the action he allows it deserved time on screen. I could sit through more time of it because the way he conveys his stories on screen hit all the right beats.
If WOW was an half hour or hour longer I could have sat through more of it. I wanted to see more of Saldana, Winslet, Kurtis and of course more Worthington. The beginning of this two parter is about the family the children and Lang’s character development, the story will lead on with more of the adults im certain of it. The kids needed their introductions and screen time as much as the original characters got from the first AVATAR.
The actors were great, Cameron knows how to convey the struggles kids go through and the hard choices parents have to make. I was rooting for everyone even for Lang to change for the better. Spider was a good addition and added more depth to Langs character, Lang was great, the guy is an entertaining actor, I want to see how fierce he gets.
Worthington brought a warmth and strict stoicism to Jake. I enjoyed seeing Jake grow more as a Navi Warrior. It’s a film about the importance of family, sticking together and protecting your children and legacy as a fortress.
I'm on board with the sequels.

I just saw that Titanic will be released again next month for a 25th year anniversary. Cameron won't stop bringing dough.

Every week it makes more than I think it will. Two hundred millions in the fifth week is phenomenal performance. I think it's a given that next week it will cross the two billion dollars mark, even if it has a 50% drop from this week. And it probably won't have.
