Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Disney flooding the market with pointless Star Wars spin offs is not helping things and so
Disney knows better than to put a Star Wars film in the same month with Avatar. Cameron is the one Director you don't underestimate.

Not even Star Wars can be safe from franchise fatigue when you release movies every year. The worldwide numbers for Rogue One wasn't particularly impressive.

Don't worry,The Jabba the Hutt spin off will see an increase from Rouge One :o

James Cameron’s four “Avatar” sequels officially began production yesterday in Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles in what will be the unprecedented feat of filming four blockbuster-budget 3D films in succession.
There is no word as to when filming will be complete on the four films, though with the dates announced it’s likely it is being done as two sets of two films.
It has also now been reported that the estimated collective budget for the four films is expected to surpass the $1 billion mark.
At present, 20th Century Fox is still on track to release the first sequel on December 18th 2020, the next one the following year, then an extended break with the last two on December 2024 and 2025.

No shocker there. You saw what he did what that damn Avatar Land at Disney. ****ing Westworld level animatronics, he spares no expense.

I just hope the films justify the expense. People fussed over hoe expensive Titanic cost and yet the film was amazing and made its money. If the scripts are good enough these will too.

I'm sure all that will be on screen with his technical ability and these will be 4 beautiful films. I just hope that he can simultaneously create films that are held up like his Aliens and Terminator films.

I can't think of any Cameron films I've hated, though I admit I never did see that Pirahna film he did way back when he first started, lol.

The start of production is actually a momentous occasion. :awesome:

It's foolish to bet against Cameron at this point. His career has been built on people betting against him. Of course, you never know with these things, but when that first trailer comes out, everyone is gonna be on board again. This is gonna blow people away.

I certainly hope so. I know I am looking forward to seeing what's next. :D

Will be awesome if the film blows away expectations, knowing there are 3 more guaranteed and planned out. Not so good if it doesn't turn out well of course lol.

It's still going to be awhile before we see something and while the technical aspects of the first were amazing the rest was pretty meh for me. Really I'm not looking forward to this at present and could care less. It's the fact that I don't really care what the hell happened to the characters and what they are up to that's disappointing.
However...I'm sure the first footage will visually and technically suck me in.

I'm the opposite. I enjoyed the characters immensely and can't wait to see how they got on with their lives. :)

I wish I did, I'm a sucker for visually impactful films and I already know this will look amazing, just want it to have more emotional pull for me.

I'm glad they aren't holding back on anything. We know it's gonna be a GREAT spectacle. It's Cameron with a billion budget in his hands and 8 years to make the films.

Of course, in the above photo, you’ll have to use your imagination a bit to picture the cast in CG character as lanky blue cat-eyed Na’vi. That is, with one exception — Javier “Spider” Socorro (played by 12-year-old Jack Champion, who is seated in the above photo with dark hair). Spider is a human teenager born at the Hell’s Gate military complex, a crucial location in the first film.

Didn't all the humans leave at the end? Or did the "good guys" stay? I honestly don't remember.

So, Avatar. Where are you in the process?

Our system has been running about six months now. I've been doing what we call scouting, which is where we take the virtual world, we put it out on the stage and we match up the physical set pieces to it. Members of our acting troupe play many, many different characters, and we go through the scenes and make sure that all of the technical hurdles have been met before we bring the principal cast in for their [motion] capture. We've been working in the volume — we call it the volume, which is our working space — for months now, and everything looks gorgeous and spectacular and we have the best concept artists in the world. We have, I think, some of the best CG artists in the world. I couldn't be happier about the way everything looks.

How many movies are you shooting at a time?

Avatar 2 and 3 will be captured together and then [go through postproduction] sequentially. Then we go back and capture 4 and 5. They're all written and they're all designed, so we literally hit the ground running the day after Avatar 3 comes out, starting capture on 4 and 5 and then post on those and release those. That's the plan. So, it's kind of a two-and-two structure.

well for those who thought cameron would never end up shooting the sequels they were wrong lol

I figured he would, it's just that I knew it was going to take a long time.

On that first photo. I'm glad we're finally getting that live-action Legend of Korra film.

That's a lot of planning!

Why do I get a feeling this will be a coming of age movie on Pandora?

uggg that's a lot of kids.
