Finally a new casting of a well known actress. The cast of Avatar 1 was just bland and I am not excited to see them in the next 4 films. Hopefully Kate would make the film more exciting to watch.

I figure Kate's role will be about the same as Sigourney's in the first film. A supporting intelligent character. Or a human foil of some sort. I doubt she will be an exciting character unless she is playing a Navi.

It'd be neat to see Kate playing some mean ass human.

On another note, what do y'all think the end game is for the series? I'm thinking it will be Earth's military returning in full force and laying siege to claim the planet, kill or enslave the navi, and take all the unobtainium. Basically a war that makes the first film's battle seem like a small skirmish. No way earth's corporations and governments just roll over after the navi killed humans and booted them off of Pandora.

Winslet's character's name is Ronal. Sounds Na'vi (but could also be human)

One thing I'm really going to miss from the original film is James Horner's involvement.

I thought his Avatar score was very beautiful and elegant. Definitely one his more underrated pieces of work. I know his Titanic score is considered his masterpiece (highest selling film score of all time) but I thought his work on Avatar was definitely up there.

Curious to see who succeeds him.

Brad Fiedel's long been retired from scoring feature films. He seems pretty happy and contempt. It would be amazing if Cameron could talk him into coming out of retirement to score the new Terminator.

Silvestri also crossed my mind. He'd be a solid replacement. I have a feeling it'll be someone Cameron hasn't worked with before.

I still don't like Cameron. He could be more respectful to his peers like Patty Jenkins, and he keeps on digging that rut.

everything that he said about WW was 100% about the old white executives on the top floor of the hollywood system.

It will likely be Simon Franglen, his longtime arranger. Franglen finished The Magnificent Seven using the material Horner wrote, as well as the music for the "Avatar" theme park in Disney World.

He called her fat a while ago. Like a mature adult, she put that aside and chose to work with one of Hollywood's premiere directors. The most successful director at the box office. Is anyone really surprised? He could call me a skinny ***** boy and I'd still work for him.

And for goodness sake, Cameron drew those nude sketches of her himself, so this fact should have been obvious to him most of all.

I would have been bored with all the same faces again. New blood was definitely needed and Kate really fits the bill. Very happy about this.
