Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

I always wondered what happened to him. He worked with Nolan, Cameron, and Raimi... then nothing.

That's the problem with minority actors ( aside from i guess african american).
Unless the role written is race specific , you really have to be lucky to be cast for a role which can be played by a white actor.
Inception , Drag me to Hell and Avatar within a 1 year timeframe ( 2008-2009) therefore i guess he made shot the movies in 2007-2008.

I actually feel like most of the actors in Avatar haven't done much of note since then. You've got Zoe Saldana who's arguably had the most success out of the cast besides Sigourney Weaver with franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek. Then Michelle Rodriguez with the Fast & Furious franchise, though she hasn't done much outside of them in recent years.

But then you get to Sam Worthington, who's had a few roles in some major films since then but is far from the star that Hollywood tried to make him out to be in 2010. The only major role Stephen Lang has had since Avatar was in Don't Breathe, Giovani Ribisi has had roles here and there (most notably the villain in the Ted movies), Joel David Moore hasn't been in much either.

Actually it seems like the actresses in Avatar have been more successful than the actors since then. :hmm

Some people don’t get much of a boost out of being in a huge movie.

It’s like the Lord of the Rings cast.

All the hype aimed at Worthington based on Avatar and his Terminator film was all based on sand.

Now he's in a two way race with Jai Courtney for Aussie meathead for a similar role, and losing that one too.

To be fair, the majority of the LOTR cast don't have to do much after the huge success of the trilogy. They typically just do small roles here and there from time to time.

Haha, man, always makes me laugh how Worthington was supposed be this next "big thing" a few years back. Dude's dull as a brick, it was never gonna happen.

He at least tried to get a 2000AD Rogue Trooper made (even tapped Grant Morrison to write it), so I'll give him cred for that.

Aside from people like established people like Weaver or Ribisi , it seems only Saldana was the one who gained the most.
Lang for a while did appear im more movies( Public Enemies, The MEn who Stare at Goats) but his background was more theatre productions if i'm not mistaken and it looks he does prefer to keep it that way.

People basically saw that Worthington just wasn't really the next big action hero not to mention he's at best an okay actor. Hollywood jamming him down our throats didn't help and unless he grows in the future and takes more risky fare , Avatar will probably his only saving grace as his big lead roles.

The problem with many of the actors cast was the fact that they weren't leading man type figures in terms of looks nor acting qualities. MAybe indie fare but not a blockbuster.
And let's face it , name recognition with the general audience means playing a prominant role in a big blockbuster.

tbh i did enjoy Jai Courtney acting in Spartacus

I'm not really surprised most of the actors from Avatar didn't make it big.

Cameron's movies aren't known to be star launching pads so much as they are massive events. Though Leo and Arnold are the exceptions.

Im going to say it Now and first AVATAR will be the trilogy that the Force Awakens never could be.

That’s not the problem with minority actors, that’s the problem with unimaginative casting directors/studios who think that unless a side note is made that the character is a minority they have to limit casting to white actors only.

You’re comparing one movie to... three? Three yet releases to boot?

The AVATAR Trilogy will be what The Force Awakens Trilogy never could be.
Im excited for AVATAR. Cameron is spent a good amount of time developing the AVATAR Sequels unlike Disney has done with there STAR WARS Trilogy.

And what's that?

I mean James Cameron has yet to make a terrible film.

Of course, I'm sure he's bound to make a sucky film... and it could be this one.

That is unless he truly is one of most talented director/visionaries of our time and any one who objects is a damn fool who shouldn't even mention James Cameron's name. Ever.

But that's my opinion.

Sam Worthingtong enjoyed a far bigger career than he ever would have otherwise. Cameron recommended him for Terminator Salvation. He then got to star in the Clash of the Titans movies, which despite being awful got huge budgets.

Zoe Saldana has done pretty well for herself.

Didn’t know he had been cast in these-

Guess he's playing a Navi.
