Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Cameron is the man.

Tell that to my friend who watched No Way Home on opening night who just had to take a bathroom break and missed the scene where Andrew and Tobey showed up. :o

His argument is askew anyway. When you're binging a show, you have a pause button at your convenience. You can't exactly shout to the projectionist to pause the movie in the theater because you have to take a leak. Sue me if I don't want to miss an important plot point or money shot action scene.

Avoid drinking before going.
I'm usually ok. Ironically I was fine during The Batman but I had to go a little more than halfway through the much shorter Multiverse of Madness.

But even taking the bladder factor out of it if Avatar 2 is, let's say, 3 hours and 20 minutes (which is about as long as Return of the King was with credits), you're talking almost four hours sitting in a theater once you factor in 20-25 minutes trailers and commercials. That's a long-ass time. Cameron is serious about it being long but I still can't see the runtime being more than a couple of minutes over three hours just because trying to fit as many showtimes into a day is still a thing for studios and theaters.

Ok, so now the rumoured 3,5 hour runtime seems like it may be true after all.

Yeah, imagine if these shows had to be binge-watched in the cinema in one go. Most people wouldn’t bother. I like long runtimes for films that transport you to another world, but I also don’t want to miss a second when seeing something for the first time on the big screen. Ideally I’d like to eat and drink too as part of the experience which I don’t really do any more.

I'm confused what this is a response to. The issue isn't a long movie, it's equating watching a film in the theater to watching a show at home, with the pause button readily available. Which is just dumb.
It's my own fault for showing defiance towards Based Cameron.

Wasn't Sam Worthington supposed to be the next big thing in Hollywood? Of course, it might be his choice in that he wants to continue to be a working actor without all of the burdens of being an A-List star. If that is the case, I can't blame him for that.
Clash of the Titans is to blame. Since most people on here probably have seen that, myself included, I shouldn't have to elaborate further. Even Worthington himself hated working on that. Plus, along with that horrendous movie, he kept getting other ****ty scripts and it just sent to him to Netflix's DTV graveyard for a while.

That isn't to say he's bad. His performances in both Terminator Salvation and Avatar were good, he voiced Alex Mason in the first 2 Black Ops games, and Man on a Ledge is criminally underrated.

The title is clickbait sewer water. Cameron was making more nuanced point.

Taking away any internet arguing about whether or not people still care about Avatar (the YouTube trailer views show that they clearly do), if The Way of Water is indeed three and a half hours as rumored then that's going to impact its chances of setting a new box office record, and I say that as a pragmatic fan of Cameron's films. I'll put some crow in the freezer in case I'm wrong.

I think Tarantino may be the only filmmaker in the world left that remembers movies used to have intermissions.

I really wish if they keep insisting on these long movies, they bring back intermissions. I am pretty certain the theatres wouldn't mind intermissions.
You want more popcorn and candy, you say? Right away!
