Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Maybe each film will have someone from a Fast and the Furious movie yet they get killed off to be replaced by another in the next film.

Disney Moves ‘Avatar’ Sequels, Announces New ‘Star Wars’ Films

James Cameron’s long-awaited and oft-delayed follow-up to “Avatar” has been pushed back another year.

“Avatar 2” will hit theaters on December 17, 2021 instead of December 18, 2020 as originally planned. Its move means that “Avatar 3” will open on December 22, 2023 as opposed to December 17, 2021 while “Avatar 4” will bow on December 19, 2025 instead of December 20, 2024.

Whoo boy. I remember when the first sequel was originally scheduled for 2014 then 2016 then 2017 then 2018...

I’m expecting no less than the biggest movie of all time!

I think the first sequel will do well enough but the rest will be diminishing returns.

they moved Avatar 2 for Cruella?

as expected now that Disney owns everything.

By the time Avatar 5 comes out I'll probably be married with children.

I am interested in what has been plotted for all of these films so far in advance.

Well, we don’t really know that at all until we see the reception. If it hits as big as the first, the other sequels will compete with Marvel and Star Wars in terms of box office.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised if one (or more) of these films hits 3 billion. You know Cameron will bring out some technological breakthrough. I likely won't care if they are anything like the first film, but I wasn't one of the people who contributed to the 2.7 billion it made in theaters

I just don't see it. Avatar benefited greatly from being cutting-edge (for its time) with its use of 3D and not having any kind of box office competition for around 3 months. Studios now see January-March as good months to release blockbuster films whereas 10 years ago, it was rare to get tentpole movies there.

I'm just assuming these delays are caused by Cameron pushing/creating new technology to give the GA an even greater immersive experience. I'm also assuming that part of the sales pitch will be promising to deliver on this. Maybe I'm wrong, but l would be surprised if if doesn't have something new up his sleeve.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I'll be pushing 40 by the time Avatar 4 is out. :wow:

Last thing you want to give Cameron is a challenge.

A million times this.

We’ve been here before. Twice.

It was a different time back in 2009/2010. As stated before, Avatar had cutting edge 3D technology and virtually no competition at the box office whatsoever. Of course it thrived. Titanic is a great film also but let's not deny that a great big chunk of its box office haul was due to fangirls seeing it for Leo over and over again. Again, it was a different time. Regardless of how I feel about his cockiness and demeanor on set, I'm not doubting Cameron's skill as a great filmmaker, but unless he has an insane trick up his sleeve like discovering the lost city of Atlantis and filming Avatar 2 there, I really can't see it reaching the same heights as the first one. And this is coming from someone who enjoyed Avatar enough to buy both the regular and special edition Blu-ray releases.
