The only thing that is giving me a slight sense of pause on 300m is the Sunday gross. It's gonna go up against Game of Thrones' big battle episode, which will pull a lot of viewers its way.
Game of Thrones is only an hour long though so easy to plan around. Fans could well be up for both, and those who care enough can just watch EG any other time of the weekend that they're free.

Personally i have a feeling $300 mil is going down.
The only question for me is by how much.

The crazy presales numbers speak for themselves.

Its 100% certain at this point its beating the $257,7 mil of Infinity War at bare minimum.

I would be extremely surprised if it didnt.

Also GOT isnt a big deal imho. People can opt to watch it later.
Im a huge fan of GOT. Its my best TV series of all time and i cant bare to watch a single episode by itself. I need at least 2. Im pretty sure many people will choose to watch Episode 3 with Episode 4 like me.

Well if someone wanted to watch GoT live, then they couldn't watch EG that Sunday unless they go early in the morning since it's a 3 hour movie plus ads. Factor in getting to and back from the movies, etc, then it could be a tight squeeze.

Plus, I'm not sure I'd want to watch something that could be as emotionally draining as EG and then dive into GoT right after that.

Honestly, the presales don't change my outlook too much here. I always thought it had the potential to beat IW, but I still feel the top end will be 2.2-2.3 billion at the most. That's still a massive difference over IW. That's basically 100 m more domestic and 100- 200 m more OS.

I said over 2.5b and that's being hopeful. Movie theaters are adding round the clock showings opening day but for a long movie like this round the clock needs to happen for weekend and maybe more.

It's what I plan on doing. Going to see End Game on the 25th, and then Sunday will be GOT day. Won't lie though, I'm more excited about GOT than EG.

EG has the top 9 individual hours in presales for this company then. Wow, that means interest was crazier for EG even much later in the day than IW was at its peak.

Pre sales also broke record Down Under. $3.8m vs $2.8m previous record by TFA by almost 40%. So far this year only 15 out of 128 movies screen there have made more than $3.8m, a single day sales for EG weeks out....

It’s weird as SW has always been more presales-heavy so I didn’t expect it to match TFA on that, but it is destroying it.

I would have slightly disagree if we were talking about specifically about the OW and the GOT finale was on April 28 and not the 3rd episode.

So at first thought, I was thinking that $300M OW was in the bag... But after looking at the numbers for both IW and TFA, I'm not so sure any more. TFA holds the record for biggest opening day with $119.1M. I'm confident that Endgame will beat that, but even if it does $140M its first day (a stretch IMO), it'll still need a combined Saturday and Sunday of $160M or more... That's crazy hard! Here's my OW prediction:

Friday (including Thursday): $131M
Saturday: $87
Sunday: $70

$288M OW.

No way GoT dents or has any influence on BO for Endgame.
That is my thought as well. maybe 30% of people have HBO and then you have to be among those who watch Game of Thrones. Even if the MCU and GoT share 100% of the same audience how much can a Sunday night showing cost? Maybe enough for a record. Since on the other hand it opens up a few more good seats for the 70% who do not have HBO and whatever percentage of those who do not have must see the show first run for fear of being spoiled in discussions.

Could that be the difference between great and greatest of all time?

This. WTF. Maybe if The Walking Dead and The Big Bang Theory and Game of Thrones all had their series finales on the 28th... and the NBA playoff finals somehow had a game 7 on the 28th... and a Mike Tyson clone fought a Ali clone on the 28th on pay per view...

Nope still don't see any of that affecting Endgame.

Maybe the rapture? Maybe Jesus comes back to earth early on the morning of the 28th and decides its Ragnarok time... I still think he has the decency to wait until after opening weekend.

So it will be lower than IW? Found it a bit hard to believe at this point.

In the article, they admit they only tracked IW at 180-225...and they missed it by about 22 million. Just saying. I'm betting we see 288-300 million.

As for the GoT affecting Endgame, I thought you guys were joking, honestly. I've never watched GoT (I don't have cable, can't afford it. sue me...can't afford that either), but a third episode will not affect Avengers at all. Not to mention it doesn't air until later at night. Most people work on Mondays, which means the late showing on Sunday are never the "hot ticket". That being said, it's apples and oranges.

IW was harder to track because there wasn’t much to be compared, no anecdotal evidence etc. their analysts might have just crunched some numbers into a formula without adjusting any trending variables and called it the day. Those are the most frustrating analysts type — “the computer says no~~” then the frontline people have to execute based on their faulty model .... criminal ...

I know my expectations are unreasonable when I read that it's "only" opening at $250M and it seems like a disappointment. I still remember when Raimi's Spider-man had a $100M opening weekend and that seemed unbelievable. Now these movies do that in a day.
