I voted 80-89 just to be conservative, I feel that there are many people that will be disappointed with this film even if it's great, expectations are at an all time high especially after BP.

I also think 80 - 89%. It's a mammoth task to get this thing accomplished.
The sheer amount of characters can be a issue touched upon by a lot of critics. We have a ton of heroes and another ton of villains to adress. A lot of them haven't been shown or explored that much yet like Thanos and the Black Order... so there's a lot to set up. Not to mention tying up all the loose ends from previous movies, bringing a lot of characters together that have never shared screen before...

Also the CGI heavy behemoth this movie is. It won't be easy getting everything looking spotless... Let's see the run time and how the inevitable "Part 1" discussion is gonna turn out... The main thread, "side quests"...

Not being pessimistic but being cautious about the movie. Still high 80's would be a damn great accomplishment for a movie of this magnitude. It's basically a Civil War on steroids.

I think it's all going to be too much for some critics with everything including the kitchen sink thrown into this film. That said, CW should have suffered the same fate and still came out well.

This is nothing against BP since I did enjoy the movie, but I wonder how many of those critics who gave it a pass for the bad CGI are going to be complaining about it here. I can honestly already see it happening, because that movie had a lot more going for it than your typical Marvel superhero film, but I don't think that should have been the main reason for certain things about it being overlooked. At the end of the day it was still a comic book movie, but that reason alone is why I don't think it will come anywhere close to that movies almost perfect RT score.

The CG in this already looks a million times better than Black Panther's, though. Ever since that first BP trailer, the CG looked iffy. I think the extra post production time, and budget, is going to help a lot here. Especially with A4, since that's done filming over a year before the film comes out.

True. I just hope there isn't a bunch of stupid whining about how CG heavy this movie is in comparison to BP as if that movie wasn't CG heavy either. At least, IW will have the necessary time and budget to make sure everything looks right.

85-92%.

EDIT:

Can a mod fix the title to "Infinity War Rotten Tomatoes Thread"?

I expect the critical reception to be more skeptical than fan reception.Either way, it'll make a ****load of money.

Should be just enough politically motivated critics who will be upset at "not enough Black Panther" to get the score into the 80s.

93%
Russos are now just perfecting their craft.

Tuesday, April 23 at 3:00 PM PST.

World premiere is Monday. So first reviews will be going out at that time.

This is going to be a bit of a whirlwind. We'll be seeing the film so soon after the first review hits that there won't be much time to process that information.

So when are the reviews gonna be counted?

Avengers: Infinity War social media reactions will be permitted on Monday, April 23 2018 at 10:30 pm PT, following the World Premiere in Hollywood. Full reviews are being held until Tuesday, April 24 at 3 pm PT.

I think 80+ is likely. 90+ will be tough because a lot of critics will likely find issues of "lack of character development", too many scene switches, etc. Basically similar issues to Civil War but taken even further

I mean, that is indeed possible, but it could also turn out to be Marvel's Return of the King?

I'm banking on the Russos learning from their mistakes in Civil War and delivering a home run.

They said it won't be as serious as Civil War, which is a bit worrying.

60%-70%. Before I’m accused of blasphemy I am just discounting about 10% who hate it even before they see it (too many characters, much CGI, rubbing it on MCU face), 10% who hate superheroes in a movie no matter what, 10% who really have genuine problems with it. Won’t be higher than 70% and how low it gets depends on how many of the critics are on top of the 10% base number.

I would have genuine concerns myself too whether the movie will be coherent enough or have some IMO cheesy plot devices (if it gives me [snap] fingers at the end then I’ll give it a finger and a very personal rotten tomato for example).

I vote 70% ++ ....

why ?

1)Its impossible to create a movie that critics like when it has so many characters....so many stuff happening at the same time & especially when the pace of this movie is fast.

2)The best rated marvel movies are those with lots of character development (ie...iron man, winter solider, black panther). How much character development can you expect in this movie

3)Too much CGI - critics hate this even though they are well done.

The russos have an impossible task with this movie. This getting 70% on RT is like movies with solo superheros getting 90%.

So 70% on RT should not be seen as a disappointment...you have to look at it in context.

The same was said about Civil War and it is the same writers and directors

Yeah....but that mainly abt 2 sets of heros facing off against each other.

This one has almost the whole MCU roster facing off against thanos. I can't see how russos can pull off a critical darling with this.

If they do....its awesome. Its just....its almost impossible.

There are gonna be lots of comparison with black panther.....i am sure you will read lots of reviewers mentioning that IW does not have the character dept that BP has....... and likewise.

Nope, no different than before. In M&M and R&R we trust....it was said about TWS and proved wrong, it was said about CW and proved wrong....why would should it be any different this time?

It’s definitely tough. One of the toughest asks in film to get something with this many main characters right. If anyone can do it, the Russos can.

I would be happy with anything above 80%, it's impossible to keep landing in the 90's when the stakes are this high. I just want a solid movie to cap off the last 10 years. I really don't care if it finishes 95% or 85%, I just want a great film!
