The Avengers Avengers pushed back until 2012

at least we'll get to see it before the end of the world.....

Marvel's schedule was a little too ambitious for such a new studio...in this time of recession. That said, maybe a film could be made in place of...Thor for 2010, one with less sfx than, that...Nick Fury or Black Widow, maybe?

WTF.... so much for that... now Avengers/BB3 will be in a collision course for 2012... was hoping to avoid that... so much for two films a year. What else is Marvel doing?

Edit: And Thor moves to 2011 as well??? EXACTLY what I feared... what the **** happened here...

I think a collision course between BB3 and Avengers is exciting two of the biggest comicbook movies in the same year, hell yeah, bring it on.

The Thor release being delayed? well maybe Branagh expressed his doubts about having enough time to deliver the type of movie he's planning to make. I see no problem with wanting more time especially with the type of movie Thor needs to be.

At the very least... I'd move Thor to Memorial Day... Cap to July 1st. Those are just bad release dates IMO.

And I fear this means the end of the Hulk franchise because I don't see Norton returning having Hulk on ice for basically four years.

I agree with you about Hulk or dare I say it recast?

Not surprised. With everything else they're planning to do, and the dates they're aiming for, I figured Avengers would pushed back the most.

This means Jon Favreau could now potentially direct Avengers

Aren't they contractually obligated through their studio loan to put out a certain number of movies? Will this mean that either Ant-Man or Runaways will get Thor's previous release date now? I know that both are in active development but still on the script phase.

Smart move.

Because 2011 was getting a bit crowded already, and moving Avengers by itself in 2012 (for now) it gives it more a state of prominence and importance, as after the run of 2010-11 films goes, there is nothing but excitement and hype towards Avengers.

Here's something to ponder. Will the animated series also be pushed back now that the movie is being pushed back or will the animated series still come out in 2011 and serve as sort of an unofficial promotion for the movie (like the WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN series)?

I love how everyone keeps talking about Batman 3 yet there's no director, script, etc. Based upon what I've seen Nolan is rather ambivalent about attempting a third film. Besides Marvel has the upperhand now, WB would rather move Batman 3 (a film which is nowhere near being ready to be released) and rake in the dough then face stiff competition like The Avengers.

"Upper hand"

Batman 3 is likely going to be released in July 2012. People who still think it's coming out in 2011 are only kidding themselves at this point.

Guess you haven't heard, but Nolan has already agreed to direct Batman 3. In fact, he and his brother have already started working on the script, and may have even finished a first draft.

I think we could see a SHIELD movie with that introduces the Pyms instead. A cheap movie (well considering the budgets of the others so far) starring Samuel Jackson, Scarlett Johansen & whoever they cast as the Pyms? Cha-ching!

I'm sad that they're moving Thor's date back, well maybe Barnargh didn't think he could do his epic movie in such short time. Though, I think the dates will move again, with Cap being on July 4th (it's only reasonable & there's no other movie on this date yet) & Thor in Cap's old spot.

I'm not worried this mean Marvel will have time to make better movies.

If they release Thor last week of May... May 27th ish... then they can get Cap into July 1st. June has been a HORRIBLE date for comic book films. I really don't know what Marvel is thinking there. I came down hard but I realize it's not a bad idea altogether since BB3 is likely July 2012 regardless. I just think Thor needs that Memorial Day weekend. It's a better date.

With the semi-failures of TIH & the FF movies, I think Marvel will stay clear of June.

I wouldn't call The Incredible Hulk a failure on any level. It more than made it's money back, it was a FAR superior movie to the prior Hulk film, it further developed the Marvel film mythos, and it gave the fans what they've been wanting from a Hulk movie.

Also, if it were possible, a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie that introduces the Pyms would be an excellent precursor to The Avengers. Although at this point, it seems highly unlikely.

I'm glad that Marvel pushed this.
