Avengers the Initiative

I would prefer some sort of half-way point between the classic and UDON costumes. I'm sorry but I'm just not gonna take a guy in a hockey mask seriously, badass skills or not.

I don't think it looks like a hockey mask. People exaggerate.

I liked it because it was functional. I didn't care for the "energy weapon" thing, but things like weapons are easy to add. He kept that suit for years until Finch brought the original look back in MOON KNIGHT.

Yeah I know what it looked like. I have the mini. I just dont like the look much. To be fair my problem wasn't the design OR the mask (I just make jokes cause it IS very reminiscent of a goalie mask)

Basically it was functional, true but it wasnt much of a costume. It was something that (excluding the fancy weapons) you or I could put together in about an hour If we tried. That annoys me. It was a blue hoodie. A slightly altered skull shaped goalie mask and some gear. Thats a non-costume.

To be fair, I wouldn't mind if Taskmaster wore something that didn't make it seem like he and Deathstroke were shopping at the same aile. The only variation is Taskie has a cape and both have different masks. Perez designed both around the same time and both are very similar.

I wouldn't want his face to actually become a skull, though. That's Red Skull territory.

Taskmaster had that look first. Deathstroke was the rip off. Thus, Taskmaster should be allowed to keep it and Deathstroke should change.

Typhoid Mary made sense in a way but on the other she seemed way too powerful as Mutant Zero and all that. Granted, she could only maintain it for brief spurts, and with Order-esque treatments or Night-Thrasher like technology you can give or augment anyone with any power, really. But, at the end of the day it wasn't a big deal to me, probably because I am looking forward to Slott on MA and seeing where Gage takes the book solo.

And, yes, 2008 was a bad year for Tigra. So bad that it inspired Newsarama's blog to claim she is a character to rehab:

Interesting read, especially the replies.
Point.

I was one of those who whined about Tigra getting beat, mind controlled, shot, beat sum more.

it would be nice.

The only problem is Deathstroke is far more popular, so getting him to change it up will be a lot harder.

So long as Taskmaster kicks ass, though, I can live with the old look. Just not so long as he is going to lose to Moon Knight or Deadpool. :p

That's a fair point. I think some middle ground would be best. At the very least, Taskie needs to lose the cape. The guy's a mercenary who specializes in kicking opponents' asses with their own skills and sneaking around--he needs something more ninja-ish, and a cape doesn't work for that.

Also, I really liked the fact that he stole the design for Captain America's energy shield and made one of his own. That is literally the perfect weapon for him, since it could mimic the form of just about any weapon.

Deathstroke actually does have another costume. I like it better but they abandoned it for the classic look.

Nah, I just remember it from the 90's. I know for sure he wore it in an appearance in Nightwing early in that series but my books are packed away.

I do remember that it had no orange in it...just black and blue.

Oh yeah, it was the mainly Chain-mail costume. He wore it for his Mini-Series way back before DC started making him a Big Bad.

Man, I just can't wait for the next Initiative Trade.

So, think Justice will stick around, and/or these new New Warriors will actually get to beat Clor?

Heh heh. I don't see how. No one except for maybe Rage should stand a chance. I'm wondering what Night Thrasher is doing there...

Rage's power, like the Hulk, is supposed to increase with anger; he just doesn't start off at 100 tons like Green Hulk does (or 85-90 tons like Grey Hulk).

Why is Night-Thrasher there? His stab at the team probably dissolves or goes horribly wrong by the end of NEW WARRIORS #20, the last issue of the series, and he decides to join Justice's squad, which is made up of more actual New Warriors.

nah, they gotta stretch the arc out ... lol

Possibly. Still, Justice and his New Warriors/Counter-Force whatever could use a big bold win to announce themselves, and get to clean up an Initiative mess. Clor serves that role to a T on his belt. :p

Justice might stand a chance, depending on how much his telekinesis has grown. Better yet, all of the New Warriors together might stand a chance. One lioness ain't gonna take down a hippo, but a bunch working together could.

Yeah, that is what I meant. I don't imagine Justice, Rage, or any one of them alone could beat Clor. Together as a team, though, they have a chance. That's what teamwork is all about, right? Showin' the world that the New Warriors are more than their greatest mistake?

How are you of all people going to suggest that someone Thor-esque can be beaten??? :wow:

Clor isn't Thor. He's powerful to a mere mortal but to a demigod or god, he isn't on that level. Hercules smashed Clor's head in half real fast when he was motivated. :p

I was talking to the Thor ****e, dude. :cmad:

Like Dread said, Clor ain't Thor. He's as close to Thor's classic power level as super-science can make him, so he's close, but no cigar.

Plus, a powerful character is one thing, but an unbeatable character is just boring. I've always liked that Thor had plenty of challenges. The New Warriors team presented in A:TI may not seem like a huge one to Clor, but I think they could pull out a win with good teamwork. I'd say it'd be awesome if Thor could intervene at the end, but we know Clor's gonna wind up in Thor's comic anyway, so why rush it?

Indeed. I mean, good teamwork has beaten massive enemies plenty of times in comics. Wasn't that always the moral of Juggernaut's fights with the X-Men? :p
