Avengers the Initiative

Frequency has nothing to do with it. Just because we see more news reports about Islamic terrorists doesn't mean Christian terrorists don't exist. My entire point is that there's nothing unrealistic about having a scenario involving Christian terrorists when there are Christian terrorist groups in America who have killed and kidnapped people before and are quite likely to do so again.

why exactly would a christian group be commiting terrorism?

I'm running behind on this. But read this book this morning and really enjoyed it.

Read through the thread can't believe anyone would moan about the HYDRA thing. I kind of agree with Brian. Did Armory go through any emotional training before that so she would keep control - I don't know but it seems a bit harsh on her.

Though I read that as the point. That the government aren't too concerned about training Superheroes but with minimizing public knowledge of accidents and also with getting powers for themselves. I mean, they weren't bothered about Armory becoming a good superhero they just wanted to know how they could get her weapon onto one of their own people.

Anyway dug the issue and do want more.

You wouldn't think Thor girl would be on the team after how the government cloned Thor. I just don't buy it.

You wouldnt have thought MVP would be willing to join up for the initiative when the delivery line is essentially "The man your Grandfather helped create was recently shot and killed following his arrest over a government policy that he felt hindered heroic activity and pissed all over their freedom to be there for the people no matter what - we'd like you to join a team to uphold that policy "

I wouldn't count it as the most obvious choice for her, but I can see it being plausible. Tarene is still very new to being human, and she had a great affinity for humans thanks to Thor and his faith in those humans back in Jurgens' run. She was also pretty naive back then. She probably just figures, she wants to help people and the Initiative is (ostensibly) set up to train her and organize others like her to help people better, so the Initiative must be a good thing. I very much doubt she knows a whole lot about the socio-political ramifications of something like the Initiative or anything.

As for her reaction to Clor, who knows? Maybe she was able to separate Reed and Tony's actions from the government. Maybe she never even knew about Clor--I can't recall ever seeing her in an actual battle during Civil War. I think she's just one of those superheroes who complied with registration after the war ended and it was made undisputed law, simply because it was made undisputed law. Again, naive.

Either way, I'm hoping Slott gets into Tarene's head a bit more and we get to see her "official" thoughts and reactions to all of the above.

I hope so too, because I'm just not buying it.
Its as you said. Thor is her rolemodel. He taught her so much andgained her allegance to the point where she basically is mimicing him. To think she just thinks nothing of Reed and Tony cloning Thor and said clone killing other super heroes is ludacris. I'm just not buying her reactions so far. Its like she doesn't care what happened.

The general Public doesn't really know that Thor was even Cloned. So, simply put, she likely doesn't know what they did....yet.

read your history books. there have been tons of "reasons"
the spanish inquisition
the crusades
friday the 13th
the papal smear campain upon all non beLIEvers

I also could see christains terrorising scientific exibits, since some of it contradicts their beliefs.

so we have established an understanding. Anyone want to get back to talking about the avengers and leave the harsh realities of our world behind?

Looking at the July solicit, it seems Hardball will get more fleshing out. Apparently, his powers are "interesting".

Good God yes please let's do!

Anyone think it odd that there wasnt even an attempt made at asking Joe in this week's new joe fridays, what the teaser page from next issue was foreshadowing or why they relesed it uncommented etc?

The one that makes it look like Hank Pym got blowed up real good I suppose.

I guess it was pretty forgetable. If he is dead, I suppose i'd miss the Schitzo *****e bag.

Is everyone forgeting the fact that the Yellowjacket suit has a built in jet pack? He can fly while he's wearing the thing. Probably wouldn't be too hard to jump ship.

I didn't know about the jetpack. I thought the Yellowjacket costume could just glide by vibrating those ridiculously huge shoulder... things.

God, I hate the Yellowjacket costume. :(
