Was this meant for the opinion thread?

Well, there's your problem. It's like 6 X-teams vs. 4 Avengers teams. That'd be why the Avengers are outnumbered. Damn muties never know when to go away. :cmad:

Avengers
New Avengers
Secret Avengers
Avengers Academy
Young Avengers

Someone had mentioned maybe having to pull the Young and Academy in so that helps with numbers and power when it comes to Wiccan who's potentially Wanda-lite (depending on how Crusade ends).

Hmmm, avengers vs. X-Men, that's pretty easy, the winner..... Dr. Strange.

Actually the Iron Man Vs. Magneto fight could be fun if Tony actually came up with a counter to Mags power, something to switch frequencies. Beast made one that was used during Whedon's run, I just don't see someone like Tony having that big a weakness and not covering it. Although the same could be said of EMP's which routinely let him get worked.

Namor vs. Thing isn't really fair to Ben unless it's held in a desert.

The current active X-Men are: Armor, Age of Apocalypse Nightcrawler, Beast, Boom-Boom, Cannonball, Cecilia Reyes, Chamber, Charles Xavier, Colossus, Cyclops, Danger, Danni Moonstar, Dazzler, Deadpool, Deathlok, Domino, Doop, Doug Ramsey, Dr. Nemesis, Emma Frost, E.V.A., Fantomex, Frenzy, Gambit, Hope Summers, Husk, Iceman, Jubilee, Karma, Kavita Rao, Kitty Pryde, Legion, Lifeguard, Lockheed, Madison Jeffries, Magik, Magma, Magneto, Martha Johansson, Namor, Northstar, Pixie, Primal, Psylocke, Rachel Grey, Rogue, Sebastian Shaw, Stepford Cuckoos, Storm, Sunspot, Toad, Transonic, Velocidad, Warlock, Warpath, Wolverine, X-Man, and Zero. Which I believe (I may have counted wrong) is around 60 active X-Men.

This is not including students, residents of Utopia who are not active X-Men, Atlanteans, and prisoners of the X-Men.

The active X-Men are covered in Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine & the X-Men, X-Men Legacy, X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, Uncanny X-Force, Generation Hope, and New Mutants. There are also active X-Men who are not main characters in these books because there are just so damn many of them.

Those in bold aren't really considered full X-Men. The lights are still considered students in training since they don't fully know about their powers. They're only really considered a team because they're the only ones who seem to be able to go after the new mutants coming out. The X-Force only characters still seem to be considered separate, even though Wolverine revealed the team to the others. And Doop is a secretary and Toad is a freakin janitor at the new school. If that's all that it takes to be considered an X-Man, then they're really getting lax with their membership requirements.

Deathlok is joining the Wolverine & the X-Men cast as of issue 4 I beleive. That might graduate him to the level of X-Man depending on plot.

Ah, now I remember that preview, but we'll have to wait to see in the issue if it's just a guest spot or he is being given a full status upgrade.

I'm curious about his identity. I didn't even know that this wasn't the same Deathlok from the 90's until I read an interview with Remender.I've not read the Wolverine arc that dealt with that. He mentioned how Deathlok's identity is a mystery and Remender really isn't the type to just ignore something like that. I'm expecting some sort of major reveal down the road that he's a known formerly dead mutant.

ultimately it doesnt matter though bc when sh-t comes their way, they all join in on the fighting. They arent going to sit on the sidelines when the Avengers come for battle just bc they technically arent full X-men. They can all be counted as part of the X-men numbers in terms of whom they have on their side when it all goes down

Never said they wouldn't fight, just that they aren't considered full X-Men, since he said he didn't include students, which several of those bolded characters like the lights and cuckoos can still be considered.

And we've yet to see Toad really wield his mop or anything against a bad guy. :oldrazz:

How crazy would it be to see Toad fighting side by side with Magneto again, against the Avengers, AS X-MEN.

"Man, being a superhero isn't what I expected at all."

The Lights really aren't considered students, the students (like the Cuckoos) who stayed on Utopia are essentially considered X-Men, the staff at the Jean Grey Academy are considered to be X-Men, and X-Force is a squad of the X-Men just like the New Mutants.

I'll probably be skipping this altogether, unless the Vs. mini has a good creative team on the Thor match-up (assuming there is one).

Shouldn't that be the shortest fight ever? I mean, even Wolverine has his healing factor if he's dumb enough to go up against Magneto. Iron Man's got... metal armor that he needs to survive his heart condition.
I'm pretty sure Tony can depolarize his armor like Doom can.

For the Lights, I go back to the original conversation Hope had with Scott over her having them as a team, I think it was about issue 5 or 6 of Gen Hope. It basically boiled down to that while, yes, they're going to be allowed to go around as a team for picking up the new mutants that show up, they're still mostly all children with little to no actual combat training, unlike Hope that grew up with nothing but that, or training in the use of their powers. So they're still students in that respect in that they need to learn the basics and learn how to fight and use their powers.

Same goes with the rest of the students who stayed on Utopia. The back of the relaunch issue of Uncanny listed them (Dust, Surge, Martha, Cuckoos, Crosta) as "trainees", or X-Men-in-training. Not full members of any squad or anything.

I don't see how just working at a school can consider someone an X-Man. If that were the case you'd have the random human members who have worked there over the years, (Corsi, MacTaggert, Nurse Annie, etc), as X-Men also. I think in the Regensis one-shot, Toad flat out asked to be an X-Man for Logan, who refused, and said that he'd be a janitor if he just let him come with him, and voila, that's what he is, not an X-Man, but a janitor.

And yes, the last group of X-Force that Scott called for were considered X-Men, mainly because everyone on it were already established X-Men, but we haven't seen that designation yet with this new group. Wolverine started it as an even bigger secret essentially than Scott did, and we have characters like Deathlok and Deadpool come in who weren't X-Men beforehand.

The lines have definetly been blurred bc when Fraction was writing everyone was considered an X-men. The current writers are going back to the original concept of actual concrete lineups between the books and clear distinction of who belongs where.

He already has, in an old suit. Avengers West Coast Issue #60 to be exact.

Yeah, but that could be easily ignored. I hope not though, personally I see tony beating mags as mags is an one trick pony and if his polarity was say reversed he would ko himself with ease.

I'm sure its going to be ignored. Infact I'm expecting it to be ignored and I'm expecting Tony to lose a what should be a rather easy fight like in that issue I mentioned.

But yeah, Tony can reverse the polarity of his armor.

Thats not even fair! Psylocke is so gonna kick her azz. Kinda like that they use her new costume

ok, so winners so far, I'm saying:

Iron Man
Psylocke
Thor
and Spider-Man, solely due to popularity

that's some serious BS tho. Bobby would stomp his ass, and (these days) out-funny him to boot
