Thor is awesome...i hope he kicks tanerus' ass.
i do hope the avengers take this one...im most looking forward to seeing a red hulk and colossus fight and cap versus cyclops.
(but i'm very bias to the avengers)
and now most of the best x-men ARE avengers!!

With his Juggernaut power up Colossus should kick the S**T out of Red Hulk, Cap should take Cyclops, but Emma Frost vs the Hulk....seriously....is that a joke? Avengers should achieve more wins but Wolverine will probably bring peace to both sides and save the day.:whatever:

marvel should just get it over with and replace pete with wolverine as spider-man:o

is anyone else sick of this event already, its still 2 months away just its bloody everywhere

Have they seriously pitted Hulk against Emma Frost? Sounds ridiculous to me, Hulk would give colossus a better fight than Rulk! Also, does anyone who is on this team that Thor leads against Phoenix?

Thanks. Not exactly the heavy hitters I'd expect to be taking on the phoenix.

Well, there's 2 of the Big 3 there plus Carol (who's no slouch) and Valkyrie. The weak part of the Avengers these days is they don't have a real answer for a cosmic threat. The roster is built more for fighting ninja's. :o

Years back, they had folks like Quasar, Jack of Hearts, Crystal and Sersi - they all had experience with the cosmic end. They're all long gone now. Nova would be a nice guy to have around for this.

Man, an Annihilators-style team of Avengers going up against the Phoenix would be f***ing epic.

It seems to me like even a team like that would be one-shotted by the phoenix. Better bet to throw someone like reed richards at him.

or her. The only person that can defeat the Phoenix Force is Jean Grey. I kinda see her coming back to put the thing in check like she did in Endsong

I'm sick of jean grey, nah switch that, I was always bored with her (other than being an object of obsession in some form she really didn't have much of a personality). Reed could take that cosmic bird out with some machine in his basement probably but if not I'd say just throw reed, pym and strange at the problem and call it a day.

How can you be sick of a character that's only had one appearance in, like, ten years?

Some characters desparately need a time out and Jean got that. Now bring her back and use this event to perminentlly separate her from the whole Phoenix thing.

Sick of her from before (when I was much more into the X-Men) and the "stigma" of jean that permeates everything X-Men. What finally ignited the fight in Schism? Jean Grey. She's a plot device, not a character.

I don't hate her, X-Men are always just a little bit more boring with her around or being talked about.

huh? Jean had NOTHING to do with Schism. What ignited the split was the disapproval over the methods in which the Idie situation was handled and the further decision to involve the kids in the fight against the sentinel. The children were at the heart of why Schism occurred, NOT Jean

Really? What was the line that lead to the first punch? What was the insult? It made me groan personally.

I know the kids were but they just had to jam her in there.

Look it's not a big deal, I just don't see her as an actual character more a plot device to keep the X-Men exciting or something. A lot of people like there phoenix sagas I just much prefer something like inferno.

Jean was not the problem. Wolverine has thrown her in Scott's face several times since she died. He did so again to rile him up but they were already fighting and heading in that direction. Wolverine didnt pack up and leave bc of Jean Grey. She wasnt a plot device used to stimulate the catalyst events which led to Regenesis.

I'm aware, I just don't need her mentioned. She's a plot device to exacerbate problems not like a character in my eyes. Her existence is a plot device, she drives events with what happens either to her or because of her, rarely does her character come into play.

End of the day though it doesn't matter. If you dig her great. I don't. I don't hate her she just bores me and every time I see the name Jean Grey mentioned I know I'll be a little disappointed with the story.

LOL...I hope you are prepared to get dissapointed then bc I cant see how she can possibly not be brought up here. She is the primary avatar for the PF and the one with the longest most intertwined history with it. Even if she doesnt show up at all, I expect to hear her talked about quite a bit. Heck I can see someone suggesting finally trying to find her

For about the last 20 years I've been prepared to be disappointed with the X-Men and they have consistently met that goal quite well. She's jammed down my throat on a regular basis enough that I don't have blinders on that she will be tossed into anything involving a mutant pretty much ever. Doesn't mean I have to like it though or that she hasn't always been a pretty boring character in my eyes with a severe lack of personality.

It's cool though. You obviously dig her. I don't dislike her, I just feel she's used less as a character and more as an obsession point and I'd prefer X-Men stories to just be a bit better written rather than treading the same waters again and again. Just a difference of opinion.

Hey, she was more of a character than Emma Frost. Emma's soul role since joining the X-Men has been "Sexy girlfriend of Cyclops, dudes dig me."

With Jean she at least showed herself as a powerhouse character who could hold her own. She was a strong-willed character and a leader. She was a character other X-Men looked up to, not despised (like Emma). She was a better character than Emma x10.

That's why I want her back. Emma's been put in her role and is barely a shadow of what Jean was so it's just lacking. The X-Men have lacked since Morrison made that switch and I'm eager to see it switched back in some way.

I agree with your thoughts on emma, but not jean. To me they're both equally the suck for different reasons.
