Comics Back In Black Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

So what did everyone think of the conclusion to the latest Sensational Spidey arc?

I have to say that it was definitely a solid storyline and had a really classic Spidey vibe to it. The artwork was pretty good in some places and pretty craptacular in other places...I really wish Medina were a little more consistent in this title. But, hey, Sacasa is a really good Spider-Man writer and hopefully he'll be sticking around for a little while longer.

Sensational was ok but nothing special, and isn't it time for Peter and Felicia to actually interact is some form with each other? I prefer seeing that then Eddie Brock again, he's about as interesting as watching paint dry.

I actually like the fact Aunt May is in a comma, I feel that having her there will just slow things down and she serve no purpose as long as Spidey is an outlaw. She shouldn't die tho, if she should ever die again it shouldn't be from a gun shot that was aimed for Peter, like he needs another thing to be guilty about.

I want them to bring in Anna Watson to take care of may while having Peter/MJ on the run, I think an arc or 2 of that will be interesting. Before then eventual unmasking retcon (Comeon you know its gonna happen sooner or later).

I think it's quite good. Hyde's experiment of recreating Spider-Men is pretty creepy. He himself symbolises someone embracing his darker side and he points this out to Spidey. It's still unknown if Spidey embraces it fully too. I also enjoy the tension between Peter and Reed. Another bad effect of Civil War, everyone seems to distrust each other now.

Minor complain. The inconsistence of artist and....Spidey beat Hyde in flash back

Not actually picked up the last issue of SSM yet.
Will do so tmr and post opinions of the latest arc once I have concluded reading it.

I just finished reading Civil War ASM TPB. Good read. All I want to say that it's all Aunt May's fault that Peter revealed his identity to the world. What the hell was she thinking? She deserved to be shoot

lmao!

That's one of the newest Wizard covers that just came out on Wednesday. Definitely an interesting picture and it seriously gives a whole lot away. I'm really, REALLY, REEEEEEALLY glad that I don't come here as often because between now and August this place is going to be buzzing with insanity and nerd revolutions.

Oy....

I think it has all been spelled out way too clearly by JQ that something bad will be happening to MJ (and the marriage obviously).

I am totally dreading this event and the so called "marriage fix".

Feeling nauscious already.

Hopefully she makes it out of One More Day alive. I mean come on, Pete's been married for 20 damn years, get over JQ!

So far I really like Back In Black. I can't wait for the newest ASM!

Speaking of ASM. Why it's always pushed back? We are supposed to have it on the end of april!

In recent Spider-man issues they've been hyping that "big" storyline up with that ad saying "What would you do if you had one more day?" or something along those lines.

I guess Peter/MJ are going ot be give one last day with Aunt May in the hospital. That's what I'm thinking anyway.

He's in his red & blues again during One More Day.
So after Aunt May gets shot, he gets so depressed he starts wearing his black costume, then apparently gets over things long enough to wear his old costume again, then we see him holding a possibly dead body and him mourning over it. So what was the point of him going back to his red & blues? His life still isn't getting better.

Pssst, it's called movie tie-in. Nothing more, nothing less.

Spidey was gonna toss him out the damn window! Can't wait.
while reading that i totally heard Peter from TAS when he has the black suit doing the talking. like the parts where he almost kills rhino and shocker, thats the voice i was hearing while reading those panels, it was awesome.

Well.......after MJ (will wrongly) get killed in One More Day......I sure hope they have Pete in a BACK AGAIN IN BLACK ARC....because things won't be any peachier...

And that way it'll stay true to "Pete is torked off so he wants to wear his black" theme....lol...

:cwink:

Yeh......with Mary Jane dead or mindwiped....Pete will (should) be wearing the black duds for quite a long time....

Until they retcon it all.....thus bringing back the reds and blues and MJ.

Too bad EVERY hero doesn't have a black costume to sport around for when they're feeling a little grumpy.

Or maybe JQ will surprise us all and keep MJ alive????

Doubt it tho.

Since he has been babblin' so much about a "marriage controversy"....he'd look dumb now not to kill her...but dumber if he does...imo.

If this has been brought up before then I apologize, but I just got to thinking...remember the "future" Spider-Man from around Amazing #499-500? He was in front of Aunt May's tombstone. He mentioned something about "it went all bad." The cops are after him because of manslaughter, and they know that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.

Obviously, things have gone "all bad" due to the events of Civil War. The authorities are after Spider-Man, and they know he's Peter Parker. Plus, it's obviously been rumored that Aunt May could possibly die, and that Spidey might lose it and kill the Kingpin because of it. Hmmm. I know the future Spider-Man that died in #500 was supposed to be older (and had a son) but that's some kind of coincidence, huh?

The figure's head in completely in shadow - even the hair. So we dont know for sure it is MJ as they may have deliberately shadowed the hair to hide that the person doesnt have red hair. Or of course its shadowed so we think that it might not be MJ, but it really is.

Marriage fix: BAD BAD BAD OH SO BAD AND STUPID (we need a poll/petition for that I reckon - have fan opinion drive JQ's direction for the marriage for a change)

I dont see how they can do a great story that focuses entierly on the marraige, like SSM Annual was, and then still claim that there's a "controversy" over it.
