Comics Back In Black Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

which title currently has the best BiB story? Im only reading ASM and the writing style really doesnt interest me

If you ask me, I think FNSM is a pretty fun title, and sometimes has some humor thrown in there, moreso than the other titles. Although SSM is also pretty good, more of a serious title with a writer that can handle continuity well. The next story for SSM is actually the return of Eddie Brock, so that might be a good starting point. I'm not one to say which is better or worse, but between those comparisons, I hope I was helpful.

didnt get to go to my lcs today, but i did pick up BiB FNSM 20, only thing is i dont really wanna read it cuz its part of a series, i and i havent read the ones b4 20 lol is it worth skipping the others to read this one?

I'd say Amazing has...the only back in black story really. All the other titles just have him in the black suit, but for the most part he's still your friendly neighborhood Spider-man. Amazing actually has the story of why, how, and when he gets the black suit. And its very good. His whole revenge quest actually has me on the edge of my seat and wondering what he will do to get to Fisk. Sorry to hear its not interesting you though.

FNSM? Isn't that the Spidey title where evil ncle Ben from the future kills someone. Frames someone Sandman knows for the murder and is on the run from the law? Then I'd say its not even worth reading even if you have the ones before it.

Sorry, this is pretty off-topic, but Back in Black has got to be the cheesiest name. AC/DC is my favorite band, but thats really lame. Bon Scott is the only person who is truelly Back in Black. R.I.P. Bon

I think its catchy and works for whats going on

Actually there's a lot more going on than that.

Just pick up a couple of the issues before # 20 and you should be fine.

everytime i see the back in black propaganda the ACDC song "back in black" plays in my head

thanks bro, ill deff pick up the few just b4 20 when i get out to the store

Big Spidey fan. Hate all 3 movies though. Love the upgrade. About time he gets one. I will miss the web shooters though, there were a great gadget for him to have. The civil war aftermath will be interesting as Hulk is coming to Earth to clean house.

Anyway ASM#540-

I hate to say it (since I don’t like the direction JMS has taken Webhead since 04) but I actually enjoyed reading this issue somewhat. I did not like the unmasking, or Spidey’s journey through the Civil War event because essentially it was out of character, since he of ALL people would know something like this would happen.

Anyway ignoring stupid status quo, it was a pseudo enjoyable issue (heck maybe I’m just happy that JMS is off soon) and it also seemed like a realistic version of PP/SM considering his situation.
By that I mean it did seem like him in the suit and his thoughts in the issue.
No dumb out of character crap.

Would PP/SM have beaten that guy to death in the subway? Hmm I don’t know.
If this did happen to Aunt May, as it has, it would be a fair assessment to say he would be pushed to his limits.

I just think a couple of things in the last few issues have been a bit flaky regarding innocent bystanders safety. Firstly the webbing up of that cops face in #539, which no matter what JMS says would potentially suffocate the cop, and second that stray gunshot that went off in Grand Central in #540.
Spidey did not even acknowledge that it could have hit someone let alone check if it had.

I know he is pissed, but would he really be this complacent w/ the safety of the general public?

Btw- I don’t see why all current the Spider-titles have the BIB boarder on the covers if ASM is the only title w/ the story of that name contained. Actually I do know why- it’s a marketing decision so all the stupid black costume fanboys who would not normally pick up the sister titles, do. Duh,

I think you just about covered exactly how I feel Dangerous.

I don't have the issue in front of me and I only gave it a quick read through, but it seemed like at the time of the actual firing the two were in a blatantly isolated area. I remember getting the impression of a stairwell or something?

But I digress, I didn't really analyze the issue or anything so it could be my mind playing tricks on me.

Hmm, I got the impression they were in the main hall of GC.
...will have to go look again..

What the hell is wrong with ASM? #541 is now delayed to 2007-06-20, and I predict 542 will be delayed to end of july as well. What the hell is wrong with all those delays!!!

Probably to give Joe Q more time to draw, who knows. Okay, so the other day I read the last 4 or 5 issues of FNSM, and the last 2 of SSM. (Later I'll read both annuals) Anyway, I'll miss both teams since they'll be gone soon.

I'm not looking forward to JMS/Joe Q's one more day. I was at first, but I just don't want to read it now. I don't trust what will happen in that story, I'll skip it. I really wanted to see the art, though.

But we'll have to deal with what he's done once he's gone.

I hate retcons.:csad: (Well, not really, but they are annoying.)

I don't know if it belongs here but I read the FNSM annual and it's pretty freakin' sweet. Great Sandman story and highly recommend it. There is a little backup story as well that's not as good, in my opinion, but a decent book over all. And I really dig the guy who did the artwork.

I love this story, Ron Garney's such a good artist. I loved his work on the Hulk a few years ago.

It's cool to see Spidey all ticked off and bad ass. I have always liked the black suit so it's nice to see it back for awhile. I like the classic red and blue don't get me wrong but it's nice to see the black back, and it's way better than that Ironman spider-suit.

I think Aunt May will pull through in the end, i just hope they don't pull that crap where she dies then comes back.

You know, When I was reading back issues, I always thought Aunt may was Madam Web.
