Anyway ASM#540-
I hate to say it (since I don’t like the direction JMS has taken Webhead since 04) but I actually enjoyed reading this issue somewhat. I did not like the unmasking, or Spidey’s journey through the Civil War event because essentially it was out of character, since he of ALL people would know something like this would happen.
Anyway ignoring stupid status quo, it was a pseudo enjoyable issue (heck maybe I’m just happy that JMS is off soon) and it also seemed like a realistic version of PP/SM considering his situation.
By that I mean it did seem like him in the suit and his thoughts in the issue.
No dumb out of character crap.
Would PP/SM have beaten that guy to death in the subway? Hmm I don’t know.
If this did happen to Aunt May, as it has, it would be a fair assessment to say he would be pushed to his limits.
I just think a couple of things in the last few issues have been a bit flaky regarding innocent bystanders safety. Firstly the webbing up of that cops face in #539, which no matter what JMS says would potentially suffocate the cop, and second that stray gunshot that went off in Grand Central in #540.
Spidey did not even acknowledge that it could have hit someone let alone check if it had.
I know he is pissed, but would he really be this complacent w/ the safety of the general public?
Btw- I don’t see why all current the Spider-titles have the BIB boarder on the covers if ASM is the only title w/ the story of that name contained. Actually I do know why- it’s a marketing decision so all the stupid black costume fanboys who would not normally pick up the sister titles, do. Duh,
