What if they get an actor who doesn't have what it takes to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man, or an actress to play MJ, etc.? tobey and Kirsten have what it takes to play those characters. Sam wants the characters to have alot of emotion and he looks at every detail so thath e can make it right. Thats another reason I think Sam, Tobey, Kirsten, and the rest of the cast and cew return.

They will, your just thinking negative thats all. They can easily find someone better than Tobey and someone signifcantly better than Dunst.

Agreed. Although, I wouldn't mind some unintentional comic relief from Jameson but the way he's been portrayed so far is just....ugh.

I think its time the people that want recasts and DON'T want recasts just agree to disagree on this matter... no one is going to change how they feel about that regardless of what anyone says at this point.

If you ask me... its just that people are so caught up in returing T-Mags and Baker together because they were used to seeing them together for two films now and they want to see that ark completed along with some resolution between MJ/Pete's relationship. Most people who want the cast back want the marriage as well... you just aren't going to get those people out of that line of thinking if thats how they feel. I actually would like to see SM4 be the last with maybe the Clone saga following that, but the chances of that are slim to none.

That was still one of the most significant stories in the comics... Spiderman needs someone close to him to die at some point and we know it won't be MJ. And it can't be Aunt May getting sick... how many times do we need that garbage?

No, the real significance behind Gwen's death was that it turned the superhero genre on it's head. The hero always gets the girl, but the death of Gwen Stacy was a story where the hero failed and the girl died. It's considered the end of the "silver age of comics" because, at that point, comics were no longer "innocent."

This doesn't really translate to films where audiences aren't so naive. Besides, is it really necessary for Peter to lose someone close to him again? At some point, losing the people around him becomes monotonous for people, considering he has already lost his uncle and best friend.

IMO, killing off Captain Stacy would be a much better idea than killing Gwen.

They'd have to give a different take on Ned if they use him... but there really isn't much they can do with that character... they can expand a John Jameson role a bit more... make him in charge of his own reasearch or some sh:t like a mini Oscorp. Maybe they can tie him in to other villains. Maybe rekindle something with MJ if things continue not to go well with Parker... not a love triangle... but maybe a pity moment... like Swann/Norrington in POTC 3. Just throwing out some random ideas. Again the whole 20 minutes of Brock really hurts the sequels from the supporting male lead aspect... but what can you do?

I don't see any point if bringing back John Jameson, especially since what you're suggesting is a love triangle. Again, if you want a male supporting character, introduce Ned Leeds. As a friend of Peter's and a co-worker at the Bugle, he fits fine into any story. Bringing back John Jameson inherently requires continuity from SM2, which is stretching too far back. It would be like trying to bring back Flash Thompson in an expanded role.

If Gwen isn't back? Bryce will be in her late twenties by SM4... she may pass on the role... I'd hate a recast this soon.

She wants to do it again, though.

And again, I don't see the appeal in Black Cat. In addition to her being a Catwoman rip-off, Black Cat doesn't really add anything to the story.

Well personally I thought POTC3 was horrible and the mistreatment of Norrington being one of the worst aspects. So, I'd avoid that.

Ned Leeds would be easier to fit into the movie, I think, but bringing Flash back post-Harry funeral and have a subplot in SM4 of kind of a growing friendship that could expand in SM5 would be nice. Albeit, I don't know if the actor who played Flash in SM1/3 is up for it, though.

I will refuse this film as part of Spider-Man franchise if he isn't returning.

Some people are saying that if Raimi,Maguire and Dunst dont come back then they won't see another.This is why some are saying that Spider-Man 4 will be the "last" film.
