How did you guys feel about the decision to show the entire backstory as a silent montage during the opening credits? I get that they didn't want to spend too much time on a relatively simple backstory, especially since we just saw it in '03, but personally I thought this was the other extreme. I think they should have done a short flashback scene ala Batman '89. Thoughts?

I thought it was a good idea, but it could have been a little longer. I didn't expect it to go by so quick.

I thought it was a smart way to begin this film. Made tons of sense and aded to the greatness of the movie:)

I thought it was awesome, by the time that montage with the rousing music ended I was so pumped.

I think it was a great way to introduce the movie. It didn't drag on and everyone pretty much got the right idea.

I also loved how the gamma ray machine thing looked just like the one in the show.

I liked it, but thought it could have been a little longer. It was cool to see the blood contract with that flashback/dream color tone they used for the scene. Plus we saw the Hulk’s POV while he was starring at Ross, very cool to see the fear in everyone’s face in that moment.

It was all right. I thought the best part was seeing Ross defend the unconscious body of his daughter. But it was odd.

I thought it was pretty good and did it's job. It thoroughly explained the Hulk's origin without having to drag it out during the rest of the film.

Why add length to it? It was supposed to be short and concise. What else could they add to it that wouldnt have just been redundant. Batmans flashback scene was to add mystery to the guy. The hulk we know who he is.

I know everyone has their own opinions and I'm guilty of being the first one who demands mine to be respected, but I have to say, I can't see how anyone couldn't dig that opening flashback story. It was the best Marvel and/or DC opening movie sequence yet. First off, the story was complete and any fool or payaso could understand what had happened. It had drama, action and suspense. The opening's music score is ridiculously awesome, thanks to Craig Armstrong really giving the Hulk a theme that fits him. The easter eggs were a plus for all fans of the television show. The X-ray of the skull, the chair, the flashing danger sign, the blood running through the veins, it was just so damn :word:.

I liked it very much and thought it was executed very well. It got me excited for the rest of the movie, so it did its job.

I liked it. As I believe it was fairly effective in achieving that this was a brand new start for the Hulk, and had nothing to do with Ang Lee's version.

Without the opening credits scene, I think TIH could have easily been viewed upon as something of an extention of the Ang Lee film, but since that's not the case here, the opening credits scenes just made it apparent (and even more so) that TIH clearly wasnt. And is intented as a chapter one/reboot.

Something about it just didn't click. I just didn't like it.

I'm mixed on it. I'll have to see the movie again to decide.

I might have liked it had it been expanded upon. From what I saw in the film, it was pointless to tell the truth.

i thought it was really well done, only thing i'm wondering is what would a general audience who has no idea who the hulk is think? would they get whats happening? my brain filled in the peices cuz i knew.. it was really well done and the music was awsome..

Short and sweet and to the point. Liked it!!!

I like it if they changed it through artist drawings like in Spidey 2 (or was it Spidey 3). It's just more classy.

I thought the way it was shot and edited was BEYOND COOL!

It was one of the best made parts of the movie!

But...... I hate how they used the origin from the 1970's TV show, I thought it was really lame. Why could they not make something closer to the 2003 movie origin?

The only thing that makes this a reboot is the 1970's TV show origin flashback.

I mean Banner is in South America looking for a cure (like the end of the 2003 movie)

Betty thinks Banner is Dead/ or on the run (like the end of the 2003 movie)

The Government wants to find the Hulk to make super soldiers (Just like the 2003 movie)

General Ross is fixated on finding the Hulk (like the end of the 2003 movie)

Though I really loved the WAY they did the sequence technically, I hate how it destroys all the content from the last movie.

agree totally. It would have lent more emotion to this movie as a sequel because it would have been carrying that element from the last movie. Plus it would have retained the element of "madder he gets. stronger he gets", that the first film did.
