Bad Robot/Jonathan Nolan Bringing "Westworld" to HBO - Part 1

That romantic comedy trailer is hilarious.

I really wanted Bernard to say he was “having an old friend for dinner” at the end.

I actually preferred S2, tbh. Can't wait for what's next.
I just finished re-watch of the first two seasons. I remember thinking both seasons were of a similar quality, but preferring season 2. This time around, the distance was a bit bigger. Season 1 flows like one big episode. It works really well but it also causes a lot to bleed together. Honestly, not the best for a second go, and well this was like my fourth. Season 2 has a bit of a underwhelming premiere for a show of this quality. It feels caught up in the idea of trying to confuse, while paying lip service to a lot of the story threads from the previous season. But after that, it's all kinds of fantastic. I love how it has an overall arc of the same quality as the first season, but also with very distinct episodes, that add so much flavor to the season and show. The last three episodes are some of my favorite television.

How I rank the first two seasons:

20. The Well-Tempered Clavier
19. Journey into Night
18. Dissonance Theory
17. Contrapasso
16. Akane no Mai
15. Trace Decay
14. Les Ecorches
13. Chestnut
12. The Stray
11. The Adversary
10. Virtu e Fortuna
9. Trompe L’Oeil
8. The Original
7. Reunion
6. Phase Space
5. The Bicameral Mind
4. Vanishing Point
3. The Passenger
2. Kiksuya
1. The Riddle of the Sphinx

The show is officially POI 2.0, and I am very okay with this.

Some thoughts:

- The new setting is breathtaking. It is all my cyberpunk dreams come to life.

- Dolores, like the North, remembers.

- Dolores is the Batwoman we need right now!

- Aiden Pearce is in this season 3. Interesting…

- Computer William is so cute!

- And now Thanos is also in this season! Amazing casting!

- I love how Thanos finally came home, after Dolores rebuilt him, and still gave him that hairline.

- Dolores’ dress trick is the way of the future.

- I am curious if Dolores still calls herself Dolores.

- This guy should meet William. They can bounce their theories between each other, before they finally fulfill their eventual suicide pact they talk each other into.

- Aiden Pearce lives in the worst timeline, that feels way too real when it comes to our futures.

- I am seeing way too many penises. As in, any penises.

- Dolores found Dredd’s bike.

- Mantis, touch his forehead! Come on, do it!

- Are you allowed to murder someone in the Enterprise's engine room?

- Chibs ain’t playing. Also I like how he has taken over Delos’ role of mumbling Brit.

- My brother just said, “Dolores probably has Rick Sanchez levels of contingencies. He is so right. :funny:

- Someone didn’t watch Need for Speed. Of course Aiden Pearce can drive this. He can drive anything.

- Dolores definitely doesn’t have any points left on her license after that.

- I love how in the future technology has been built to make the sight of one talking to themselves less embarrassing. Notice I only said less.

- Dolores is Root’s final form. Seriously, you can tell this is the kind of stuff they dreamed of doing with Root, with a bigger budget. It’s glorious.

- I like how the realest person in Westworld, is a robot. It’s true though!

- I can’t tell if Dolores is hurt, or playing hurt.

- Thanos is now living his Rambo III dreams.

- Maeve is the kinkest dreamer.

- The preview whispers the answer to my biggest question!

- You don’t need to stop her, you need to let robot Jesus work!

Ugh you guys are making me miss Root with all these POI mentions. :waa:

I really dug the premiere. It’s just the first ep and Aaron Paul is already killing it. Some fantastic acting there.

ERW is a stunning murderbot. Love her. :hrt:

Why did they make a point of showing a place (Palawan) in the Philippines and then have the locals speak Mandarin? That was so odd.

I dug the cameos and guest appearances. How many did you guys spot?

ETA: Someone please point me to where I can get Dolores’ quick change dress. :P

But Dolores is a pretty worthy successor imo. I just like how both are played by two of my biggest crushes. :hehe:

Damn now that it is how you do a premiere. Loved everything that had to do with Delores in this episode and Aaron Paul's character. Singapore is such a beautiful location to have filmed this since it already does look pretty futuristic and that Tinder/Uber Crime App is definitely something I can see happening in the near future lol. A lot of surprise cameos too. I honestly didn't even recognize Marshawn Lynch or John Gallagher Jr. at first, but Tommy Flanagan was awesome and it's always great seeing Pom Klementieff pop up in stuff.

I was wondering why I vaguely recognized that woman.
