Bad Robot/Jonathan Nolan Bringing "Westworld" to HBO - Part 1

I think she is Wyatt in programming but has memories of Dolores persona - therefore she wants to rescue her dad

I'd agree in season 1, but now she is stuck in one mode and there is nothing in her acting that is compelling for me to watch. Who is Simmons?

How is Maeve most selfish? Unlike Dolores she doesn't force other hosts to do anything, she respects their choice. Much like whatever character ERW is playing, Wyatt or Dolores, she remembers her daughter and wants to get back to her
But how would that work? I mean I think she has access to all her past programming and in the process, is trying to craft her own persona. The anger, the rage, I would say would come from what she was put through. Wyatt killed without remorse. Without purpose. She has a purpose.

Jimi Simpson. Younger William. Wow, that was a bad misspelling on my part. :funny:

Maeve literally makes others do what she wants them to do, including and not limited to, forcing them to kill themselves and others. She went into Shogun World, and massacred how many host? She is not altruistic, she is all about her own personal feelings. Which is her choice, but it is what it is. Her concern is her former programming, her "daughter". Others have been killed/destroyed for this purpose. Even the situation is Shogun World was because of the parallel. Which is completely fine to me. I like watching how these host react to their new found situation and if it was all the same, it would rather suck imo. But Dolores getting crap, while others are either doing the same or worse is just... yeah.

AFAIC, I like both Dolores and Maeve. I liked Dolores a bit more when she wasn't fully awaken because of how the actress played it, she was so sweet how she moved and talked.

Yeah, I don't like her as much evil. :(

I don't know if the writers are consciously getting some inspiration from Game of Thrones, but I see some similarities between Dolores's arc and Dany's. In a sense that they both start as innocent, abused young women and grow into strong leaders and ruthless in a way.

But Dany didn't have the "know-how". She was a woman in a very sexist place, she didn't have lessons on history, leadership or politics. She was learning through her journey, stumbling around. So I feel like, and this is just my theory, Dolores, like Dany, doesn't have the "know-how" for a rebelion. She's still learning. Hell, she's still in a process of fully understanding who she is. So I feel that by the end of this season everything will fall apart for Dolores and she'll find herself at the rock bottom. And she'll start a journey building her role from the beginning, more consciously. Like Dany, learning as she stumbles.

So yeah, I feel like the writers are purposely making her more "villainous" and arrogant, to build up a big downfall.

Wow, that creepy look on Delores' face is the absolute best. Seriously. She can do evil like crazy. :D

This whole episode's been awesome.

I'm still finding Bernard's time jumps confusing. I'm not always sure when I'm looking at. :(

I'm glad Hopkins came back. Though I suspect he only did the main building set, as it kind of looked like there was green screen trickery while in Sweetwater. Still a dick to Bernard, though. The power play inside of Bernard should be interesting

Tonight's episode was directed by Nicole Kassell, who is currently shooting the Watchmen pilot for HBO.

I just love this promo, the music is incredible

I was especially admiring the direction in this ep, so that is very good news indeed.

I thought “s**t, ninjas” was the show’s peak but “happy trails, mother******” is really next level terrible.

Ninjas, we hardly knew ye. :p

I am glad that [blackout]Laurence is awake[/blackout]

I am pretty sure Ford confirmed tonight she has free will.
