Wrestlers would be very good, bodybuilders are photo actors, pro wrestlers do stuff on the fly off the tops of their head, and the better ones are pretty good at it, so don't discount them as actors, a lot of them would own hollywood actors in unscripted, impromptu stuff.

The Rock would almost be good, but too many people know his voice and to the main public, he's a bigger star than Bane, it shouldn't be that way, Ledger and Joker are about equal in status, same with Bale and Batman, so I'd say someone less known, or known but not THAT known, or someone known to act like Bane, the Rock isn't, Rock is funny and cocky and basically not a lot like Bane other than skin tone and body.

Dalip Singh is great, but his body is funny looking, if you see him without his shirt on, which if you watch him wrestle (God help you) he looks funny. With the Bane attire, he wouldn't look so bad though.

The guy playing Bane should be 6'7" or above and 300 pounds and above, Ron Perlman is a horrible actor, I hate all of his stuff, so stop with the Perlman talk. No bodybuilders because they use even more roids than the wrestlers and they're a liability to have a heart attack and die.

So basically, you can use Batista who is 6'5" but you could make him taller with Hollywood effects (he has the body, he has an intelligent voice, give him some cool stuff to say and you have Bane), you can use Dalip Singh (different voice needed, so no non-mask stuff), or someone else, likely from WWE because other wresting promotions don't require roid use.

The problem with using wrestlers is that they can't act. We all remember how terrible Jeep Swenson was as Bane in Batman & Robin. Do we want another ******ed grunt who only says "Bane" over and over again?

That's partially because those were his lines? That was how the character was written: blame the writers of that crappy film. He was written to be that way.

I never checked out this thread... but then I decided to today...

I kinda disagree with most of the posts. I think Bane should just be played by someone BIGGER than Christian Bale (taller, more muscular). That could be A LOT of potential actors since Bale isn't the biggest guy around.....

What is Bane as a villain? Bane is a physical threat to Batman.... ok then, with that said... get someone bigger than Christian Bale.... there ya go!

So he doesn't have to be 7'5" and 400lbs. That's crazy! He just needs to be intimidating in comparison to Christian Bale. That's attainable.

Plus, there's a lot of camera tricks that Nolan could use to make Bale look/appear bigger than he really is...

The whole point of Bane is he's larger than life. Simply getting a tall person is a joke to the character.

And no, Bale isn't just a physical threat to Batman. Knightfall is proof of this.

Neither do I. But that doesn't mean casting choice should be crazy.
Thet thing is that Bane can't be done. Nobody big enough is good enough actor. Unless it's a cameo like Zsasz. But I'm afraid Bane is too poular character to be a cameo plus it's too much B&R.
