Bane is a great character and I will always want to see him in a serious bat-film.

Agreed, people complain about not wanting him after the horror that was Batman and Robin, but I say, why not bring him in to redeem the character. Its not as though we're gonna get the same Bane w/ Nolan on board, so Im all for it

Having Nolan redeem Bane's character in the 3rd film from the peice of **** he was in B&R as well as having Batman redeem himself to gotham by way of stopping Bane is such a delicious double entendre... Nolan would be crazy NOT to do this.

No he didn't. He thought it was brilliant fool. Go watch the 2-Disc Special edition of Batman Begins. That seen where he jumps down the stairs at Arkham with the bats around him? All CGI. That seen where he walks away? (Yeah, all he does is walk away) CGI. They tried to avoid using Bale/Stuntman in Begins due to it taking so long to put on and due to it being so hard to move it.

Many of you guys have very good ideas. However, Bane is the leading antagonist in one of Batman's most famous storylines: Knightfall; and, of course, he breaks Bats' back in that storyline. I don't really care, but do you think die-hard comic fans would be upset that Bane was used in another film and the "Broken Bat" storyline wasn't used?

The trouble with casting Bane is that most actors who would have the physique to pull it off do not have the acting ability and those actors who would have the required intensity do not have the body.

One option would be to have a guy with the right body to play him wearing the mask at all times, and then have his voice dubbed in by someone else like Darth Vader in Star Wars.

Another option would be to cast a WWE star. They certainly have the physiques and most of them are good at acting. Here's their current champion, Batista. I could see him under the mask.

I totally agree with this. If you use a known professional wrestler the public won't take the character seriously. If you do use a know pro wrestler his voice must be dubbed & his face never shown.

Thats another good idea. B character villians like Bane don't have to always be the same ethnicity. If Duncan can play the Kingpin & if Halle Berry "bless her heart" can play Catwoman, then I think Duncan could pull Bane off.

It matters when the ethnicity is ingrained within the character and his origins, which is the case with Bane.

Duncan is the most uninspired choice I have ever heard for this role. The only thing he has going for him is he's tall and big. That's really it.

I'd be in favor of either getting a body double (maybe with some cgi enhancements), or making a body suit for a Hispanic actor. If it's the former, then the actor should be dubbing the voice. There's no reason to NOT cast a suitable actor for this role simply because of size. That's ridiculous and sacrificing talent for appearance which is unacceptable.

Body suits for someone as big as Bane is havnt been very impressive. Juggernaut looked awful in X3.

Definitely down for the body double. Do it Darth Vader style.

I don't think Bane has to be some big ass muscular dude anyways. He's only that way in the comics because they are comics and everybody's unrealistically musclebound.

Besides, you can just say his strength comes from Venom.

The ONLY casting suggestion in the WHOLE thread that is any good is Javier. The rest, like the wrestlers or muscle-bound-pick-of-the-week are ****ty actors. Anyone suggesting WWE wrestlers should be shot in the face. Have you ever seen the "acting" in their backstage vignettes? Porno bad. worse even.

We need someone with the chops to be able to stand up to Liam Neeson, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart.

All of the AAA actors in The Dark Knight are, at this moment, sitting around a table, pointing at the screen and laughing at the thought of a wrestler like Batista being in their movie. Christopher Nolan just shot cola out of his nose because he was laughing so hard. "I like real actors, not stiff pieces of crap". really, he said that. i swear.
