The Dark Knight Bat Sonar: Love it or Hate it?

the sonar eyes are fine but it's way too flashy and complicated from batman POV. they should try to make it simple and i cant even see a decent shot of it as the camera angle moves way tooo fast. the whole sequence looks "messy and flashy"
hmm, on second thought, maybe i should go and see it again for a clearer shot.

Second time it wasnt too bad but would have been cooler if the lenses were more fitting to the shape of the comic book's white eyes and not massive goggles

Point of the lesnes was...

1.the pun of BATsonar

2.fastest way to find joker in such a time span

3.white eyes from the comics (though too wide)

4.a shot at the government on how they can really invade our privacy and use our own technology against us to keep a tab on our lives. Lucas served as the voice of the people and Bruce new it was not right but he had to pick the lesser evil to stop the greater one. It was an I opener to many of thopse who go by their daily lives not knowing how they get watched by similar technology everyday

That kind of power is too much for one person to control...as in the words of Fox. That movie was fresh, I'm sorry...too fresh for the symbolism behind it all and practically the entire movie.

I thought the whole thing was a bit unessesary. For one, it's too much like Daredevil. Secondly they did the "sonar eyes" in Batman Forever.

I think they could have found a better way to track the Joker, and not go through a totally unessesary plot device.

hahaha I just thought of something hilarious. Bat-sonar should be short formed to Bonar.

they could have done away with it. i thought it was kinda stupid but nothing that detracted hugely from the viewing experience.

I was OK with it but why did he put them back on after joker hit him and hid for like 5 seconds, he put them on then joker knocked him to the floor, that was dumb.

I liked it thought it was really neat. Although when the satellite went down if I were Batman I would've pressed the button or whatever to remove them so I could actually see.

Shouldnt there be a poll on this one? I liked the idea of it and it was cool, I just wish they made the shape of his eyes more slanted to give him the more comic book look, the dark slanted eyes wouldve been great, overall I thought it was cool.

yea i know, he took them off to fight the dogs of joker and to get beat up by joker then he got up, joker hit him again, then he put da sonar back on? wtf lol

I really didn't like it because the first thing I thought of was Daredevil. It was bothering so much that last night I was trying to come up with an alternative excuse for why he would use the lenses. I figured that it's not uncommon for Batman to use gas pellets, bolas, and explosive devices when he needs to in the comics, so it wouldn't be a stretch for him to use flash grenades in the movie. Fox could just explain that he could use the lenses in conjunction with the grenades because the lenses cancel the the specific frequency of light that is emitted by the grenades. He could take out thugs faster and still have a plausible reason for having the lenses.

I didn't mind it, however it did jump around a little too much for my taste

k honestly, no one finds the bo-nar comment funny? bunch o stuffed shirts

I liked the way it looked... made him seem like a demon.
I did not care for the sonar ability tho... I would have preferred just a "night vision" approach and not an ALL seeing sonar. I have always wanted to see batman have his comic style eyes. I think all white contacts would be cool too.

I also immediately thought of Daredevil - not a great association IMO. This whole sequence was frustrating for me; felt too long, didn't like seeing Bats kick the crap out of SWAT ('Year One' references aside, these GPD guys have had a rough time of it).
The lenses looked kinda cool, if a bit plastic.
May like it better in IMAX though.

I didn't really like it, because I still don't see how that technology was able to be installed in every cell phone in Gotham, and the scenes with the sonar were too chaotic at times and hard to follow. But I think Nolan was meant to use it as a social commentary, and it shows Batman was willing to set aside his ethnic temporarily in order to take down Joker. I guess in that respect, the sonar technology did what it was supposed to do.

I actually liked it because I think it gave a shout out to all the batman animated series because of the white eyes

I didn't like it. But I wouldn't say I hated it either. So it was kinda just like, whatever. I did like the concept initially but felt after it was put in to use that it was just a bit too over the top or something. But whatever....

so, someone pointed out already, they ripped off Daredevil?

heh-heh.. looked just like it..

somebody get Nolan to write & direct a DD film..

So I haven't seen the movie yet (until wednesday night) so the whole sonar sequence and the fights in it are all seen from bats POV? or just some of the fights in the whole final sequence? I was hoping that the final fight scenes would be clear for us to enjoy( Iam talking about bats beating joker's goons and the swat)

It actually reminded me of DD and Batman Forever; Kilmer had some lenses drop down in his mask too if I recall. It wasn't bad, just the "comic book" moment of the movie.

And why are you reading these when you haven't seen the movie yet!!??!:wow:

Although it didn't suit Batman, it was used with logic and I didn't really have problems. It was shown for just two minutes.
