Batgirl 'Batgirl' movie? - Part 1

Given that she's played an Oracle type before, Zoey might have it in the bag. But we'll see.

That helps, but at the end of the day, the director is gonna go with who they think is best , and given the outside the "fan expectations" box castings of Pattinson, Sasha, and much of the BOP cast, I wouldn't be confident enough to say anyone has it in the bag without more information as to where their heads are at.

That said though, she does scream Barbara in that picture.

Zoey Deutch seems by far the most popular choice from what I've seen on social media which means she certainly won't get cast.

These DC WB films often cast actors that aren't fan casting favorites for the role.

They will probably cast Leslie Grace since these studios like reusing talent they worked with before.

Her resemblance to Barbara notwithstanding, the image is actually from one of Zoey's previous roles. Hence, I was just looking to convey that her experience playing a "techie" might come in handy (assuming that this nascent reimagining of the character is just as computer-savvy as her comic counterpart).

But regardless, to further suggest that she might already "have it in the bag" was admittedly a bit overhasty on my part. I'll fall on that sword.

Having clarified the above, I don't really disagree with your overall sentiment.

Front page article “comments” for this piece of casting news are referring to Leslie Grace, clearly listed as Dominican in a quick Google search, “the black actress”.

Oops.

It’s not enough that these cockroaches’ racist prejudice is so blatant. They’re so sure in their “correctness”, they can’t even be bothered to do the minimum amount of research to get her ethnicity right. :funny:

If we look at even alot of the castings like Affleck and Pattinson as Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Gordon, Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason M as Aquaman, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Hardy as Bane, Eisenberg as Lex, Amy adams as Lois, etc, online fandom and the filmmakers tend to be on totally different pages in terms of who fits the role best.

Now, Zoey may end up with the part anyway, but more often then not , WB tends to go with actors who don't fit fans visions of who should play the part.

It’s honestly really important to me that she’s a redhead.that image of Zoey Deutchh someone posted with the red hair and glasses is straight out of a comic book.

I think all of these actresses can work as redheads, but Zoey Deutch had red hair in Beautiful Creatures and it worked really well for her.

Yep.

As much as people might love to fan cast particular actors there are a lot more things to think about when casting these roles.

How the actor gets on with the director and their vision for the film, do they have screen chemistry with other cast members, do they want to sign on to a multi film franchise contract that could see them spending a decade playing the same character, do they fit the tone of the film and so on.

The right casting is a special kind of alchemy

Is the Barbara in this movie going to have any relationship with Wright’s Gordon from The Batman or are they two separate things altogether? I guess it doesn’t matter anymore with the multiverse being in play with The Flash

I don’t think this will have anything to do with The Batman—Erin Kellyman has been my pick for Barbara Gordon in that universe.

If rumors are indeed true, she may be in the same universe as Keaton’s Batman but I doubt Pat Hingle will be referenced so maybe the multiverse rearranges with J.K. Simmons assuming the role after the DCEU? Or maybe a new Gordon all together…

I wasn’t impressed with her in Falcon and Winter Soldier but that was the only thing I’ve seen her in. I did see Solo but I honestly can’t remember her in that movie.

If they do have a Barbara in The Batman (not saying they'll necessarily introduce her) who's a person of color, I wonder if that'll affect their choice with the DCEU one. I'm thinking more the In the Heights actress than Isabella Merced, but maybe either of them, really. I mean, I'm fine with taking each of them on their own terms, but they (studios in general) do often try to differentiate between versions of characters, so maybe having two POC Barbaras at the same would be to them like, I don't know, putting all of their eggs in one basket.

Leslie Grace is an Afro-Latina.

Q&A: Leslie Grace lives full-circle moment 'In the Heights'

Like her Nina character in “In The Heights,” Leslie Grace says she's struggled to fit in as an Afro-Latino woman and artist.

I’ve never seen her in anything, so it’ll be a wait and see for me. I assume her work in that WB Lin Manuel Miranda movie helped a lot.

Well, att least its not that awful actress from Falcon& Winter Soldier.

I think I will skip this one.

She seems like the least interesting choice out of the four ones, but we'll see. She's the one I thought they'd pick too.

Now I almost want to see them just pull from In the Heights even more and cast Jimmy Smits as Gordon.

Leslie is a beautiful girl. Not my first pick but I think she’ll do well

Just hope they give her red hair
