Batgirl 'Batgirl' movie? - Part 1

Those shots of Keaton look cool, but I wouldn't let the nostalgia of those get in the way of how the rest of set pictures have looked. They didn't help with that promotional image they released, it doesn't do the quality of her suit any favours, has a CW vibe about it.

I'm surprised though in this day & age that, particularly WB, didn't package the film up in whatever state it was in & just release it on streaming services. Sounds like something they'd do even if they believed it was unwatchable.

Because it was never truly about being unwatchable. It was always about WB not knowing where the franchise was going and Keaton as the main DCEU Batman suddenly didn't feel appealing to the new regime. Also about Zaslav showing investors the pocket change that he managed to make with tax write-offs, in order to prove his worth.

And it’s backfiring on him big time.

^as much as I want to agree with this statement...

it's actually kinda impressive how it never got any type of leak

Yeah it’s pretty crazy that nothing has come from it minus a couple photos. I really wonder if it was as completely “deleted” or if someone out there has a copy

I hated the concept of this movie. Including Keaton made no ****ing sense. His Alfred is dead and JK Simmons Gordon would’ve been younger than Bruce.

I absolutely love Keaton as Batman, but I wanted a Batman Beyond/Batman 3 type of movie, not this. Never was a fan of the Batgirl casting either, and the leaked costumes for Firefly and Killer Moth were atrocious.

Can we please get a Tim Burton Batman Beyond miniseries on Max? God, that’s probably the DC project that would get me the most excited. I’d trade Superman and the entire DCU slate for a Keaton/Burton/Batman Beyond show or movie.

If you are going to do live action Batman Beyond, do it on the big screen with that Blade Runner treatment. **** Max.
With how pretty Andor looks, I think it could work as a miniseries. I think we’re getting a Blade Runner show too

Of course a Batman Beyond film/series with Keaton would have been more ideal, but this was an actual real film he was in and not a “what if”, so I’ll take what I can get. I didn’t think The Flash was an ideal project to bring Keaton back, but I’m still glad they did.
I don’t know how they would have explained Keaton’s involvement, but I was willing to give it a shot. Those couple photos of him that they did show looked better than most of The Flash

I don’t think I remember seeing any photos of Killer Moth, but I didn’t personally mind the Firefly look. I was really interested to see what Brendan Fraser was going to do with that role.
I still don’t believe that it was just soooooo terrible, they didn’t want people to see it. That’s never stopped a studio from releasing a film. (Hell, this same studio did release a very poorly received film only a couple months ago with Joker 2, so obviously that wasn’t the problem with Batgirl)

And I can't even imagine the amount of frustration Leslie Grace must feel; Getting the opportunity to play a great wellknown comic book character, and then all of a sudden the whole project gets canned.
Not sure why this is bumped, and didn't really follow the drama of this production, yet looking up the actress Leslie Grace Martínez (assuming she can act), if she gets on Disney's radar:

I had never seen Leslie Grace in anything before. And I honestly was a bit sceptical about the Batgirl suit at these first pics we got. I also know I've said the same thing about cbm suits a thousand times before watching the real film, and changed my mind lol. Anyhows, the whole premise for this first Batgirl movie ever, including Keaton's Batman (I mean, come on) sounded great. But nope, suddenly it's "unwatchable" and had to be cancelled..

Well, worst case scenario: Maybe it might've been bland, maybe forgettable, maybe even borderline close to bad? Who knows? I still somehow can't imagine this movie would've been more "unwatchable" than some of the last offerings from MCU and DC, reading both serious movie critics and all the hilarious comments here. Damn, I keep hoping for a future leak somehow of this. And also a future Batgirl role somehow, in which this young actress that got so totally robbed of her luck might get a chance again. Just for justice.

I can’t remember if it was Safran or someone else who said it, but they said it would have “tarnished the careers of the actors”, which I find to be a crock of sh**. Plenty of well established actors are in bad movies. I don’t think it would have done anything either way for their careers. Did they really think it was going to tarnish the careers of Keaton, Fraser (who went on to win an Oscar, and that would not have changed), or JK Simmons??
Simmons was just in that crappy Christmas movie. I highly doubt that’s going to affect him in any way.

Plus, let’s be honest; there is no way the studios care that much about the younger talent that they’d be worried for their futures.

Maybe it was bad. But maybe it wasn’t.

While I don’t think ‘The Flash’ is awful by any means, it sure wasn’t great.
That’s still not going to affect the actors that badly.
Had Ezra not gone through all that personal stuff, I’m sure they’d still have steady work.

While I agree the established actors would’ve been fine, it could definitely hurt Grace’s career if it was bad as we’ve seen with new actors in big movies who disappear short thereafter,

It might be a blessing in the end for her, where she breaks out instead in a critically acclaimed role.

Problem is, I think every trace of it has been deleted by this point, hence the "funeral" screening.

Bad mouthing the film and leaving it to the imagination of the public isn’t exactly building her career up.

This was probably my most anticipated film out of DC at the time. So yeah, I’m still upset at the stunt Zaslav pulled.
