Batman: Arkham Origins - Part 2

I'd say the new guy is far far superior voice actor than Conroy. That's not a slight against Conroy at all, just a compliment to Roger Craig Smith. Is he a better Batman? I personally don't think so but he certainly isn't bad, I'd have no problem if they hire him down the line as Batman in a dc movie or something.

Yea i think thats a good way to look at it. RCS may be a more well rounded voice actor, but he'll more than likely never top Conroys Batman. Conroys take on Batman has been mimicked by other va's going on 20+ years. No one has done a better job. Its why it always comes back to Conroy.

The guy from "Beware the Batman" can get pretty Conroy'ish at times as Batman

Here's an interview with Roger Craig Smith & Troy Baker.

I'm tired of Conroy all the time, I love the new guys voice.

Ill never tire of Conroys take until he starts slipping, which isnt happening any time soon.

From the little iv heard though, i do love RCS's take. He does sound like a youthful Batman which isnt the easiest voice to pull off. Just check out Ben McKenzie in Year One and youll see what i mean, haha.

With that said though, im counting down the days to Conroys return as the true Batman in the next Arkham game.

RCS would've been awesome if he were cast in year one.

Conroy has been slipping for years. His last effective performance IMO was Batman Beyond. Ever since then it's just been him living off his own hype, not even trying. I honestly think he doesn't realize how boring and unemotional he sounds lately. No effort, voice sounds dull, and is just reading lines. I wanted this change bad. I just hope they get it right and so far it sounds like they did. Conroy's work in BTAS and Beyond will always hold a special place for me but enough is enough lets. move on, please.

In answer to hopes that Kevin Conroy will be back for Batman: Assault on Arkham:

Gary Miereanu:

Stay tuned ... we might make you happy
So that's a double dose of Conroy with Assault (most probably) and Arkham 3.

Yay!

Well that answer sums up the pandering approach I think they have to Conroy and his fans now.

Conroy will be in his 80's and will still have fans saying it's not the "real batman" without his voice.

Conroy was great in his time but all things have a time to pass.

No he deff hasn't been slipping. He's just as competent an actor as he's always been. He was great in both Arkham games. The change is also just temporary as he'll be back for the next Arkham game. So you'll just have to get over it or pass on the next Arkham title if ya don't like Conroy

I agree with you for the most part. He's still better than most who try to voice the character, but he's nowhere near as effective in the role as he was years ago - which is what earned him his legendary status.

Watch an old episode of the animated series, or even Batman Beyond. There's just so much more gravitas and intensity in his performance. In the Arkham games he sounds like he's going through the motions far too often.

I agree with this. However, I would argue that Conroy started to slip up only after JL/JLU.

Thank you. How people can't see this is beyond me.

Oh get over it...

Don't like Conroy, don't watch/purchase things that has him in it.

There are plenty of other Batman stuff out there that doesn't feature him.

I like the fact that we get a variety of Batman voice actors these days. Conroy and otherwise.

Some people doesn't seem to like variety,It's either Conroy or the character will suck and vice-versa

I'm not a Conroy hater, it's just he's been doing this for 20 years. Can't we move on? What more does he have to add to the character, especially when he has been off.

It's a sad sad day when I see people turn their backs on Kev :(

I find it more sad when people are still sucking him off instead of giving a new person a chance

No one has topped Conroy yet, and I doubt anyone will. Sure, he's not as good as he used to be, but he's still the best Batman VA of all time.

Roger's Batvoice is good on its own, but it sounds absolutely nothing like young Conroy, and that's why I don't like it. He's not playing his own Batman, he's playing a younger Conroy Batman. They should've hired Anthony Ruivivar, he sounds a lot more like young Kevin in Beware the Batman than Roger Craig Smith does.

Also, the reason some of Conroy's lines sound a little dull in AA/AC is because those are eight-hour long sessions in a booth. It's nothing like how they record animated movies or TV shows. In the cutscenes, he sounds amazing, but during gameplay, there are some narrated lines which sound a bit phoned in, but that's the voice director's fault, not Kevin's.

We've heard very little of Roger's Batman,His performance can be just decent or actually awesome But we can't really judge him until we play the game's story

Not true. We've heard him as Batman in a variety of different emotions. He sounds alright.

I'm all for giving other actors a chance, hell, I want to do VO myself, but Roger's voice just doesn't work for young Conroy-Bats. Anthony Ruivivar would've been a much better choice, imo. And this is coming from a huge RGS fan. I love him as Chris Redfield, but unfortunately, his Batman sounds just like his Redfield.

I'll always be a fan of Conroy but I have zero problems with having someone else voice Bats. Smith sounds good to me. So far atleast.
