There just really hard to compare, for me. IMO, this is as different to BB as Batman Returns was to B'89. I loved the pace of TDK, but at times I wished it were longer actually, to flesh things out more. We didn't even see a funeral for Rachel or anything, Harvey seemed way more shook up than Bruce was about the whole ordeal, at times it was just a bit too frantic.

On the other hand, the climax of BB completely killed it for me, the only part of that movie I just didn't really like. With TDK, I was emotionally drawn into what was going to happen, and the ending is even more interesting than the BB Joker card, Nolan has a world of possiblities to explore in the next installment if he chooses to continue, I think he'd be wise to do so....

:batty: I liked both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
Christopher Nolan did a brilliant job at reviving the Batman franchise

Batman Begins has a nostalgic vibe, but The Dark Knight is a much better film.

The Dark Knight. No origin to deal with, just go right into the action. It features Batman's insane arch enemy and IMO his most interesting tragic villain in Two Face. Both has great stories and tremendous use of characters but I will take TDK over BB for stated reasons.

Both amazing films. Just think of how incredible a trilogy this will be if Nolan comes back for a third.

I prefer TDK. There was more action, it was more intense, had a great story and theme to it and the villain was truly diabolical.

I really like Batman Begins a lot and think it does some things better-- I think it's first hour is wonderfully paced and its strongest while I think the first 20-30 minutes of TDK is a little awkward, I think it utilised Alfred and more importantly Michael Caine more and really delved deep into Bruce Wayne's psyche and what he was feeling while I felt Batman was more of a reactionary character in TDK and Harvey Dent was the main character and Joker the scene stealer, IMO....

BUT

The Dark Knight while made as a crime ensemble as opposed to a movie centrally focused on Batman is a masterpiece. It is superbly crafted without any clunky dialogue or awkward third/final act that finished the film. It was uncompromising, surprising and completely broke away from the superhero formula which Batman Begins followed.

As much as I love BB, I gotta' give it to TDK.

Also can I just add Ledger's Joker is the greatest comic book movie villain of all time, which helps?

Looking back at 'Begins' once you've watched 'The Dark Knight', you realize that 'Begins' was more of a self-orienated film where Batman/Bruce Wayne was really the only one in the story who matter, but in 'The Dark Knight', it seems as if everyone is important and everyone is there for a reason. 'Begins' is a great film, but 'The Dark Knight' is truly a five-star masterpiece.

I like them equally, they are both amazing films and watching them once is never enough for me

I loved Batman Begins, but The Dark Knight is just on a completely different level so my vote goes to The Dark Knight.

Seriously, when TDK comes out on Blu-Ray...I'm locking myself in my room lol.

The Dark Knight, by far. It's themes aren't as ham-fisted, it's much more cohesive, and it has much better villains.

TDK on every level I was one of those underwhelmed by BB from the beginning. The way it was drummed up as the best thing in history around these parts partly influenced me to finally join this board after years of lurking. I'll just repost this from my review over in the fan review thread

The Dark Knight
Christopher Nolan's followup to his 2005 film Batman Begins is everything a sequel should be and more. A complete improvement over it's at times quite bland predecessor and a great extension of what this Batman film universe really has to offer. No longer are we subjected to phoned in performances from highly capable actors, no longer do we have to sit through contrived and generic dialogue anectdotes and obnoxiously choppy action photography most importantly the film contains a great pace all throughout it doesn't stop nor loses the audience for a moment.

Where it's predecessor had a great 1st act followed by cliche ridden uninspired and by the numbers second and third acts The Dark Knight applies it's theme of escalation to it's structure not just it's story. There is an escalation of quality throughout all 3 acts. The first act captivates you, the second act moves you and the third act leaves you in amazement and waiting to see what comes next due to it's setup.

This is my ideal Batman film almost everything I wanted from a Batman film was delivered here. It was a great package. To BB's credit it had a completely different intent and purpose just one that didn't engage me to the point of rewatching the movie many times or anything. I think the execution after act 1 was just too jarring.

Well after finally seeing TDK, I can safely say TDK is head and shoulders above BB in practically every way.

The Dark Knight on every level. Best comic movie ever is no exaggeration. This film has raised the bar substantially for comic movies. It is going to be a while before this is topped (if ever) IMO.

As much as I love Begins (and there are certain aspects of it that I like better than TDK) I have to say TDK is my favorite, pretty easily too.

The major thing about BB that I love so much is that moreso than any other Batman movie it is ALL ABOUT BATMAN. That is his movie, 110%. TDK is more about the battle for Gotham, but just as much as I loved the characterization and development of Bruce in Begins, I loved the Joker/Batman relationship even more in TDK. It's brilliant.
