Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 2

I'd give Gosling a chance if he was cast, but he certainly isn't my dream fan cast.

I want to hear Gosling’s bat growl.

There’s no reason for outrage :funny:

Go back and rewatch Justice League. It’s a try hard performance. He’s trying to charm us with his calculated and unnatural onscreen awkwardness that comes across VERY forced. The result is anything but charming. It’s more cringe than anything, the constant side eyeing gets old fast. He makes the same stupid face like 20 times. The side eye look is as bad as Clooney’s bobble head in B&R

Live action Flashes ranked

Grant Gustin
John Wesley Shipp
Ezra Miller and Kenny Johnston are tied (Ezra is a better actor but his performance is SO cringe it places him on the same level as Johnston)
Rod Haase

What I meant was is that Jake isn't the typical go-to-guy of Hollywood. He's more low-key. Sure, we know him, but don't know him from a lot when compared to most. Some films he made are quite memorable, while a lot of others aren't. And his personal life has been uneventful, making him pretty much a hermit to the public eye.

Solid point. He isn't a "movie star" per se. He does well to "sell" his movies, but he retains credibility since he isn't everywhere/everywhere for the public.

He really tends to make dark indie films that rarely set the box office alight. Demolition, Enemy, Nightcrawler, End of Watch, Stronger all done for under 30 million.

Enemy in particular made 3 million WW. It's hard to imagine this film would have ever done well in a wide release.

I really respect his film choices.

I’m sure he’s been suggested a million times but after watching Electric Dreams, I feel like Richard Madden might be able to pull this role off if they go younger. The one downside is that he looks similar to Henry Cavill, but that might not matter.

Can he do an American accent?

I love legitimate, adult criticisms. :o

Bats has always looked a bit like Supes, so that might even be a plus.

Personally, I still want Affleck in the role. I think he has massive amounts of potential. Only a little of that was excavated in BvS. I wanted to see a whole film/more fight scenes similar to the one seen in the warehouse. That scene will always rank as one of the top action scenes in a comic book film for me. I thought it was beautifully choreographed/filmed.

I wish Snyder could have stayed on and finished Justice League. While there probably was a lot that would remain unfixed, I think Snyder gets the iconic visual shots/is masterfully at transcribing comic panels to film. If anything, it would be ideal to have Zack as a visual consultant rather than director. I really wish Whedon didn't ruin some of those beautiful shots seen in the original Justice League trailers. I was very letdown when he didn't show a close up of Batman on the Grim Reaper statue. That always looked bad ass in the theater.

I can see it.

He might make a good Bond too, but Bale was supposedly a frontrunner for Bond before being cast as Batman.

Bale declined the opportunity to audition. He was one of a dozen actors who Broccoli mentioned as possibilities. He was never put on a real list, auditioned, screen tested, or anything of the sort. He would have been a decent Bond though.

I'm just saying that a lot of actors who could fit Bond could also play Batman. I can't really see Craig as Batman, but Hiddleston (who was rumored as a potential contender for a while) could make a good Batman if he wasn't already part of the Marvel universe.

I could see Craig as Batman more than Hiddleston. Craig, though, is almost too cold for the role, which isn’t something I thought I’d ever say.
