Dunno what you mean mate. This is spot on.

Right. WB forfeited their right to touch up actors' faces with CGI from now until the end of recorded time.

Christ, he looks like Ed ****ing Helms.

Ed Helms's "I super-smell a fart brewing" face.

I’ve said this before but it bears repeating. I don’t want a younger Batman, regardless if this is a prequel or not. I want Affleck to play the role until he’s old enough to truly play the older Batman we saw in TDKR. He’s too good in the role to just throw that prospect away.

It's nothing to do with that, guys. Most people suspect Cruise and Travolta are into dudes, they don't give a crap.
Those 2 are suspected. Not confirmed.
Travolta for sure is gay, but most reports say Cruise is more asexual than anything.

Hollywood is still scared to let openly gay male actors headline their blockbusters. Just this week Rupert Everett has talked about how directors in the past had said they wanted to cast him in leading roles only for studio execs and producers to veto him because he was openly gay.

Luke Evans stopped being public about his sexuality as soon as his Hollywood career started taking off despite being open about it in the UK before

I recall that as well. I believe he had the chops and looks to show that openly gay men can still be leading men. But I can't fault him for putting his career ahead of any social change.

They made him look like John Casey from Chuck

I have only just realized this now

Had a feeling this was something they'd think about doing. With Batman inevitably getting a "fresh" start, pairing him up with a new Joker only makes sense.

Maybe they’ll wait for audience reactions before combining the presently separate universes?

Wild idea, I know.

Here's the thing though... why not just recast Batman and use Joaquin as the Joker and just make it in the mainline DCEU? Are they just giving up on the JL idea? I get if they want to keep it relatively isolated for awhile and rebuild the individual brands but not having Batman present in the larger DCEU seems short sighted.

So there's going to be two Bat cinematic universes going on at the same time? I thought it was cool having a one-off Joker movie, similar to The Joker graphic novel(or an Elseworld tale), but I find it odd if Reeves' movies are going to be incorporated into it, while we still have the DCEU, with movies like BOP, SS2, etc.

I dunno, just odd.

I would think that The Batman and "Joker" would be retrofitted/hand waved into the main DCEU. Would they just not have a Batman anymore in the main timeline otherwise?

Joaquin ain't signing if it's a multi-film contract.

Maybe they're hedging their bets on such an outstanding success with the first one, it'll be easier to negotiate sequels when Joaquin is more receptive to how much people loved him and the film.

Anything that is separated from Batfleck and Letoker is a plus.

Exactly what I was thinking.

If everything I’ve heard about the man is true, they might as well not even waste their time.

Then again, stranger things have happened.

He wouldn’t for Doctor Strange.

Yeah I don’t really give a **** how they handle it. Just get rid of them. One sucks in the role and the other doesn’t care.

I don't think Phoenix is fundamentally against playing the same character multiple times. He didn't get deep into negotiations for Doctor Strange if he was (and by all accounts, he was deep in negotiations). I think what ultimately gave him cold feet was the prospect of signing a multi-film contract blind. A Marvel contract means signing on for at least three solo films, presumably three Avengers films, and any number of cameo appearances in other films. And most of those outright don't have screenplays yet. So he's essentially signing on for films that he knows nothing about. Perhaps he was worried that he'd be handed the script for Doctor Strange 2 and he'd realize he just didn't feel that passionately about it anymore. Well, too bad for him. They've got him locked up.

I think IF there is an interest to have Phoenix make multiple appearances as The Joker, they're basically going to have to play it by ear and approach him on a film-to-film basis. I think if he's actually able to sit down with a director and read a script each time, he may prove more open-minded to the whole thing. That's just my feelings on that.

I think Joker's one of those characters, because of the makeup, where I'd be totally fine with frequent recasts.
