Gal and Jason at least have charisma, though. Armie has, like, anti-charisma to me, lol. He’s never come across as remotely likable on-screen or off, imo.

Won't deny he does have a certain smugness about him. I also thought his "I'm better than all of you" Stan Lee rant was pretty dick-ish.

Hammer is what Bruce would've ended up as, if not for the dead parents thing. Hammer family is richer than white Jesus, so he decided to go the acting route. lol

As a neutral reading who stumbled on this forum looking for Batman casting news it has really fascinated me reading fancasting from DCEU fans. I honestly don't think I'll care that much about Matt Reeves' take on Batman, but he's proved himself to be a serviceable director and it's a huge role, so it's cool for everyone to see who gets it.

From what I've read here the bias is leaning towards Hammer based on 1) height, 2) looks, 3) voice, as opposed to actual talent. I've seen Hammer in 3 movies, one he had a cameo, and the other 2 he had supporting roles but was pretty good in them (he worked under really great directors in these roles). All of his leading man attempts have been flops, according to my knowledge. The consensus among movie fans is that he's obviously a fine actor, but lacks charisma and an actual leading man presence.

When you look at the quality and abilities of actors in the MCU, and then compare that with the DCEU, the gulf is pretty ****ing big, and that clearly affects the quality of the movies. But Hammer is still a step up from many of the actors that have led DCEU movies recently (Momoa, for instance), so...

I know he's wrapped up in the CW world now, but I remember Tyler Hoechlin being pretty well received, when we thought he had landed the role before Affleck was announced. He's only 31 now. I think he's a better actor than Hammer.

I’m still wishing that Nolan would’ve been more open to a shared universe and the more comic booky elements of Batman, and we could still have Bale around. No one really compares.

Hammer is probably the best choice among big stars shortlisted for the role. But I don't think he should get the role nor do I feel he'll be cast. I LOL at those who mentioned Rami Malek and Oscar Isaac. There's been some English actors mentioned who I feel could pull off the role.

We need an unknown star. Someone we can picture being Bruce and Batman.

How about Ben Barnes? He was great in the Punisher. He's 37 and 6'1.

His character in season 2 was one of the major fails of the second season.

RE: Robles podcast, Hoult is the name I like best out of the "list" too. And he is not really the same as O'Connell. O'Brien or Madden etc. because Hoult is quite tall and can bulk up, the way Aaron Taylor-Johnson did for roles like Godzilla. Hoult can tend to look a bit soft, but a big part of Bruce Wayne would be the training and pushing himself beyond "normal." He is also at the stage where we can see him mature.

If it was between Hoult and Hammer, I would choose Hoult because it is more of a fresh, unexpected choice. And if it is Hoult whom Reeves wants, then I hope WB gives him that freedom rather than pressuring him to go with Hammer.

Exactly. People want him because of physical attributes and deep voice, but his charisma is a black hole that sucks life out of everything.

Josh Brolin we know for sure at least spoke to Zack Snyder about the role.

I’m three episodes into The Bodyguard (an entertaining series if anyone’s interested) and Richard Madden has jumped to the top of my list. He’d need a dialogue coach (because what I’ve heard of his American accent is barely passable at best), but if he can get that sorted out, I think he’d be a good choice.

I can understand other reasons people bring up as to why they don't like Hoult for the role. But I don't buy this as being one of them. The guy was just in "The Favourite" and he was in "Mad Max Fury Road." He makes interesting choices with his movies and roles. Many are small, experimental or arthouse, some don't get noticed, many are offbeat.Then he's in an ensemble supporting role like Beast in X-Men. Next he's playing J.R.R. Tolkien.

Jon Hamm is the tragic "Batman that never was" for me. Feel like in an alternate universe where he was cast when he was like 35, he would have been amazing.

Feel the same for Thomas Gibson. The guy screams Bruce Wayne and would've been such a shocking announcement for say Batman Begins.

This guy, Diego Boneta (28 years old) auditioned for Batman 6 years ago. His accent is bad but maybe it's imrpoved since then.

Bodyguard is a good watch and a great showcase for Madden as an actor. I still didn't get Batman vibes from him, but if Reeves is looking for a young, boyish Batman for his story then I think he'd be a good fit.
