I'll throw out a name that everyone will hate...but this dude is one heck of an actor and...even though I think it'd be a risky choice with the geek community PR-wise...there's no doubt in my mind that he'd be able to nail the role after hitting the gym to bulk up a bit (though I dont need this new Batman to be a tank). That's right...I'm going to suggest Robert Pattinson (Twilight, Good Time). I know...I know...he sparkles...but the dude can act. Though honestly, I'm fine with any number of great actors.

I just read a quote from him where he said he was "desperately" trying to get in a superhero movie and wanted to do something outside the box from what people are used to seeing (using Heath Ledger's Joker as an example).

He'd be great. I don't think he'd commit to a franchise again after Twilight.

Bodyguard is a good watch and a great showcase for Madden as an actor. I still didn't get Batman vibes from him, but if Reeves is looking for a young, boyish Batman for his story then I think he'd be a good fit.

Why do you think that is? Just curious.

EDIT: Watch these fools cast Pattinson as Superman.

The thing about Pattinson is that the initial response would be just like Affleck, in that...

"We love Ben Affleck! Argo kicks ass!"
*Ben Affleck is cast*
"The guy who ruined Daredevil?!?"

It'll be very that, except with Twilight. No matter the work he's put in with smaller, more intimate movies, it'll inevitably be a "Edward Cullen isn't MY Batman!" thing.

Yeah...that's the thing. These idiots who claim he ruined vampire movies (but most of them never bothered to watch any of the MANY other vampire movies that were being released, so THEY ruined vampires, not him) would be screaming that the Sparkle vampire shouldn't be Batman...and odds are that they didn't bother to see him absolutely KILL IT in other roles he's done since.

It's that boyishness. He played the vulnerability of his character extremely well, but whenever he went into stoic, grizzled vet mode I just didn't totally buy it because he still seems like such a boy to me. Like a grown-up Peter Parker or something. I imagine Batman as this uber-mature, highly masculine dude and so anyone particularly boyish like that will never scream Batman to me because he doesn't have any natural roughness to him, if that makes any sense. But if that's what Reeves wants in his Batman - which these candidates would indicate he does - then Madden would probably do well in that incarnation, because he's a very good actor who can do drama and intensity well.

I wouldn't be against Pattinson for this incarnation either, at this point.

That’s interesting. I can see where you’re coming from, to the point where I don’t even necessarily disagree with you in some areas, but I also don’t think that assuming a more mature or “masculine” disposition is beyond him.

Twilight is pancake ass. That being said, I am 100% down with Pattinson in the role. Not my first choice, but not a bad choice at all.

Another guy on the age range: Alex Pettyfer.
I should note that some of the names I'm mentioning here (Evan Peters, Diego Boneta, this guy) are not choices I support but ones that may appear on the shortlist because of their ages and looks

Got a good look, but doesnt he have personality issues. I seem to recall reading that he pissed everyone off on the set of Magic Mike. We don't need that going forward.

If that's true that's a shame because that's the first 28 year old actor I've seen that actually looks intimidating as well as convincingly boyish

I'm gonna go watch his movie and tell you guys if he's just a pretty face or if his acting is good.

Well, if anyone else is as curious as I am about Pettyfer, I'd suggest watch this movie. A lot of comments in the trailer and some reviewws literally are "Yeah this guy should be Batman or James Bond"

Yeah, he's got a pretty bad rep in that regard. Also, Hollywood tried to make him a leading man there for a while, and it didn't stick for a reason. His "good look" is pretty much all he has, imo.

Well, Hollywood is full of stories about second chances. I'm curious to at least explore him, I don't necessarrily want him but he intrigues me a bit.

I'm still kind of pulling for Penn Badgley tbh.

Pretty sure it won't happen, but still.

Sean Penn as a bad ass Alfred would be a charismatic interesting box office crowning choice. That or Sean Penn as Thomas Wayne. He really would be great in a comic film
