So far JL and Aquaman were set in old DCEU, Shazam looks like it is still a part of that, same for BoP. Can't say for sure about WW84, though it could be still within DCEU.

So far only movie that is 100 % out of DCEU is Joker, Matt Reeves Batman could also be it's own thing.

Yeah it seems like Reeves is the only one who is throwing out the baby with the bath water, here.

Honestly though, the DCEU connections in Wonder Woman (the photograph framing device) and Aquaman (the Steppenwolf reference) are so negligible that the films function just as well as standalone entities anyway.

If off-hand, blink-and-you'll-miss-it references to a larger shared universe float your boat, all the power to you. But if that's all we're going to get moving forward, I don't see why it's that big of a deal. Like would your enjoyment towards Aquaman really have been impacted in any way had they not made the Steppenwolf/JL reference?

The connectivity between the MCU films is much more involved, where they actually have characters and storylines crossing over between franchises. What we've seen in WW and Aquaman is pittance compared to that.

Right now, I'm involved in The Batman. What it will be called ultimately, I don't know. Aquaman is going to be very different from the Todd Phillips Joker movie, and that's going to be different from Shazam and Harley Quinn. Warners believes they don't have to try to develop a giant slate that has to have all the plans for how it's going to connect. What they need to try and do is make good movies with these characters.

Fair point. I just think they shouldn’t just throw their hands up and recast Batman when Ben could really be a great iteration of the character with Matt Reeves behind him.

Just feels like a waste of potential and this version of the character should be afforded the same leeway as Jason’s Aquaman, Gal’s WW, etc and be allowed to shine in his own movie before slamming the door completely.

Then again if Affleck is the problem here, then let him leave.

I think the Affleck issue is compounded by the possibility that Reeves is interested in doing more than one film.

Affleck has one film left on his contract, so technically WB could force him to fulfill that. After that, though, he is free and clear to walk away. Which would suck if Reeves wanted to make a couple more. Personally I'd rather cut the cord now rather than face a recast after they've already made the first movie.

And given the sort of time it would take to make 2-3 films (especially at Reeves' pace), it might be that much more difficult to lock down an older actor.

All true. I guess my question would be if that it’s the main issue, would Ben be willing to commit to the role for another 10 years? I think it’s fair of Matt reeves to say he’d rather sign someone on who he knows would stick around rather than roll the dice on Ben wanting to re-up his contract.

Why not cast Casey Affleck to play a young version of Ben Affleck? lol

Great actor and he actually looks like a younger version of Ben. And you can make him look much younger than he actually is.

I dont want his batman to carry that baggage from bvs (which I loved but dug them a hole), suicide squad (awful villians like joker), and justice league (awful everything).

I also want this to be way more adult than the other dc properties. I would go with war for the planet of apes tone honestly. May not be best for family audiences but it works for batman.

I want him to do whatever he wants and make a batman world the way he wants. Use the villians he wants in his own view. I want this to be completely standalone with zero connection even though i love mos, bvs, ww, and aquaman.

Yeah, and I’m not happy about it, lol.

If Reeves only has a self contained trilogy planned, we’ll basically get young Batman for three movies. We’ve already seen a great movie where Batman is starting out and I feel like it will just be wasted time if we only have three movies to fill.

Starting out with a Batman that’s been around for 5 years+ is the best option IMO that way we don’t have to waste valuable screen time with him figuring out how to be Batman.

I know what you mean- 'Batman Begins' did it well and it would probably rehash a lot of origin stuff. It would be good to see peak Batman, where it doesn't dwell on him beginning or ending his career. I want to see them get right into the plot as well. If it is young Batman then they can still do that. He just needs to get back to Gotham and get on with it.

It ain't happening. Let it go.

I wasn't being serious. Hence the :o . But he often becomes the go-to when people are stumped about other actor options. :oldrazz:

Can't wait for all the nonstop Oscar Isaac picks, and hearing the phrase "movie magic" over and over again.

Hmm, I meant to quote m1ll3r but I guess it still works.

And not know if he's going to give effort or half-a$$ it again. Loved him in his first two shots, but can't trust him after JL. Time to move on.

I want an unconventional choice for Batman.

So cast Kevin Hart so I can see the Internet meltdown.

What about Michael B. Jordan? Just saying. Dude is fit as hell. Looks like he was carved from stone.

Ben did confirm that he’s out.

Just bring Bale back, please.
