Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

Young Affleck type - forget it. He isn't doing Martha Batman.

I honestly have confidence in Reeves with this. He seems to know his Batman stuff and has at least conveyed the core values of the character that mostly everyone wants to see in an on-screen batman, as opposed to say, just making him look like a cool badass with nothing else in mind.

They'll undoubtedly screen test these guys in a suit, and I definitely think Reeves will make the right call.

I'm all for a younger looking Bruce Wayne, though I can't say I have a horse in the race at this point. I'm guessing we're looking at 25-28, just after his appearance as Batman, moving toward the "Robin" era. I'd like to see the "immaturity" of Batman explored a bit more, in terms of the psychology behind the character. We've seen the older and veteran Batman. Time for something new. Even Bale's Wayne was 29/30 when he began operating as Batman.

Looks wise, Abbott is an absolute 'shoe-in', no idea on his 'talent' as an actor though, and he looks not un-like a younger Affleck so all universe boxes ticked.

I have complete confidence in Reeves so if he chooses anybody on that list, it must be for a good reason.

like wouldn't it be really great to actually see the Bat grow over real time?

cast a 25-28 year old now, and 10-15 years from now that fresh faced kid is an experienced Bruce Wayne/Batman, with years of experience, that we've actually watched unfold. We'd actually see the natural transformation over time. We'd celebrate his wins and feel his losses. We'd be truly invested in this guy. And one day, if things are in order enough, he can crossover with everything else going on in the overarching universe.

To me, something like that would be special.

I actually think Johnson could pull it off quite well now that I think about it. it seems to be reeves definitely wants the actor to grow and mature over time through the films.

Supposedly Robles will discuss the names on his podcast, and the list he has heard includes:

Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Ansel Elgort
Kit Harington
Richard Madden
Logan Lerman
Nicholas Hoult
Jack O'Connell
Dylan O’Brien
Noah Centineo
Taron Egerton
There's a spanish expression that describes the way I'm feeling. "No mames"

I don't want rebooted Batman to last 15 years. 10 years max. 3 movies is enough. I noticed I get tired of an iteration if it lasts longer than it should.

When you look at it like that, the pieces start to come together. You start to see what the trilogy could be about and that's Batman's growth as a man and as a hero

Aaron Taylor Johnson is feeling more and more like the right choice to me for young Batman. He's got the look and he can get in Batman shape rather easily.

he has a lot of experience and love for the genre and will probably be open to many sequels, as he has taken roles like Kick-Ass and Quicksilver.

I'm definitely leaning towards him for a young Batman.

times are changing

theres a good chance whoever they cast is evenually going to be in team up movies and perhaps cameo in other movies, so I wouldn't get too attached to the idea of a strict trilogy and then its over.

And after casting an older guy at the start of the universe, you bet they're going to get a guy who's absolutely in for the long haul.

The trick here is to look at that list, what we know of Reeves' previous casting choices in other films and what we know about the rumors for The Batman and ignore our own personal biases and instead try to discern what Reeves is looking for in his Batman.
Yeah...can't use any of that as basis because nothing in particular stands out.
Those Game of Thrones guys are the safest and most fancasted picks.

I'm not attached. But I know that I will want a new Batman take in 8-9 years, assuming what Reeves is preparing is a success. Just like I'm tired of Craig's Bond, MCU, Singerverse and whatever there is still going. Rocky, lol.

maybe they'll cast a guy to play Batman strictly for the connected universe movies and let reeves do his own thing, but I doubt it.

I'm just still surprised he's directing this thing, especially with how publicly insistent he's been on trying to distance his movie without actually closing the door on it entirely.

I'm only telling you how I think it'll go based on WB's most recent mishaps, not necessarily how I want it to go, Lol.

I keep asking around to see if Jeremy Irvine is still a contender for Batman. I feel like he's good to go.

He's probably the choice that's most accurate looks wise! He's tall, dark, square jaw. Just very, very young.

Dylan O'Brien would have to gain like 30 pounds of muscle to look convincing

hook that boy up to an IV that injects lard and we'll talk
